Bottle. Dark brown with a thin foam. Aromas are Weetabix and nutty malts with raisins and rye bread. Slightly smoky with fudge and woody whisky barrel notes. Hints of banana with light metallic elements. Flavours are smoky and earthy with light whisky and sweet Weetabix and caramel. Some mellow lemon with raisins and a dry finish. OK.
-pours a clear golden-amber with a big,foamy,white head
-high carbonation visible
-floral,metallic,spicy,grainy,nettle, to high ,lingering bitterniss for the style
-light to medium body
Reminds me more of a filtered version of their Kellerbier with a slightly upped AbV.
Good overall, but in a Märzen i expect much more sweet, chewy malt harrisoni (18823) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAY 7, 2016
In bottle at the brewery in Buttenheim. Deep gold crystal clear colour lasting white head. F ok .unny for a bottled German beer it lacks a little in the carbonation. Syrupy malt and watery at same time. Not a triumph. But the tell tale flowery hops are there on the finish giving me rose petals After the pils its not as good but ok. tricksta_p (4763) - Steenwijk, NETHERLANDS - MAR 10, 2016
Bottle at home. Aroma is bready malt, caramel, nuts, light toffee, hint of hops. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a light bitter finish. Body is medium. Not a bad Märzen.

Light kinda blank aroma. Beautiful golden lager with lots of beading and lazy foam. Nice toasty malts, sweet and slight happy hoppiness at the end. Interesting marzen in that it’s a bit hoppier than the average but I can’t complain cause it tastes good. Leighton (21513) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 16, 2015
Bottle shared outside the brewery on day 2 of the Bamberg Jolly of January 2014. Pours clear amber with a frothy, off-white head. The character is comprised of toasted bread, caramel, dried grains. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Brown bread in the finish, some toast, light caramel accents. Good stuff. Easy drinking festbier. olsvammel (7249) - Örebro, SWEDEN - JUL 29, 2015
Tried this at a restaurant in Bamberg but under the name: Zimbus Drachenblot. Malty and bready smell. Similar taste, some caramel and toasty. Also metallic but not so much that it wasn’t drinkable, but enough for it to be disturbing. Erzengel (8918) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JAN 8, 2015
*Old rating, best before 24.09.10. Slightly sweetish, hints of grain. Malty-fresh, round and nice. TAR (2776) - Blue Ridge Mountains, North Carolina, USA - AUG 25, 2014
Draft at St. Georgen Bräu in Dec. 2012: Clear golden with a coppery sheen. Broken white foam. Attractive nose of marmalade fruitiness, flowers, apricot, and rich toast. Stiff carbonation. Thinnish body. Slickly fruity and succulent with dense jammy notes of apricot rising over a fresh biscuit and cookie malt softness. Mild tang of soured fruitiness emerges, but ample toasty dextrins swiftly clean things up. Well-structured malt. Finishes with a muted floral kiss and a punch of dry malt over a rich, Munich-derived nuttiness. Would gladly exchange the prevalent fruitiness for more dryness, but overall this is a quality Märzenbier.
