Bottle shared outside the brewery on day 2 of the Bamberg Jolly of January 2014. Pours clear, rich gold with a frothy, off-white head. Nice toasted bread action, light toffee, ripe fruits, caramelised sugars. Light bodied with average carbonation. Moderately crisp on the finish, with notes of toasted cereal and caramel. Lovely stuff. Hugely drinkable.

50cl bottle. Lots of sweetness in aroma, reminiscent of malt extract for brewing, tinned raspberries, jelly, raisiny cake. Clear, amber, pours with some vim, thin white head that laces the glass top to bottom. Flavour a little emptier than I anticipated from the terrific aroma, more watery than I expected, but it´s fruity, and leaves light maltiness in the linger, subtle earthy bitterness, with some complementary acidity. Enjoyable, very drinkable. Calls for a second.

Tap at Eulenspiel in Bamberg Orange-brown, glowing, with a tall, fine, airy head. Clear. Rich Munich malt nose, caramel, stone fruits, raisins. Slightly roasty and crusty flavor, cocoa, raisin, dry finish. A bit roasty, with oranges, earthy hops. Light to medium body. Smooth, low carbonation. Prickly hop finish. Solid if rather unexciting. Dry and drinkable. Really more a Landbier / Kellerbier than a dunkel.
