Deep amber color, toasty toffee/caramel nose, with layers of soft malt and hops. A big beer without being heavy. Extremely well balanced. Brewed under license of the Duinen Monestary by the family owned Huyghe-Melle Brewery.

Bottiglia da 0.33. Schiuma abbondante e corposa. Carbonatura appena abbondante. Colore bruno intenso. Aroma deciso con sentori di liquirizia. Gusto spigoloso con sfumature di castagna e sottobosco. Finale lungo ma non incisivo. Consiglio 6/10

Kolor: Ciemny brąz. Mętny.
Piana: Początkowo super się pieni. Potem opada . Do samego końca pozostaje z fajnym kożuszkiem. Niezłe zdobienia szkła.
Zapach: Zbożowy. Następnie przechodzi w owocowy.
Smak: Bardzo dobre piwo. Smak jest zróżnicowany. Ciemne słody, trochę karmelu. Bardzo fajne ziołowo-pieprzowe akcenty. Wyczuwalne są również ciemne owoce: figi, granaty, ciemna winogrona. Piwo przyjemnie rozgrzewa. Ku mojemu zaskoczeniu pojawia się interesująca goryczka. Finisz wyraźnie ziołowy. Fantastyczny posmak szczypty chilli, lub pieprzu przyjemnie szczypie w język.
Wysycenie: Dość wysokie.
Podsumowanie:
Świetny Belg! Akcenty ziołowe dodają mu uroku. Pikantny finisz nadaje mu charakteru. Bardzo pijalne. Rozgrzewa, cieszy i pobudza do działania ;-)

Draught at Delirium Cafe. Toffee, cake, dried fruit, yeast, quite thick and oily, fairly sweet finish. Decent and flavorful dubbel, maybe a tad too heavy though.

Feb ’15. A 0.33 l bottle, from Svijet Piva store, Zagreb. Thanks Zlatko! It poured hazy brown body with medium sized head. Again, unusually hoppy for the Belgian stuff, but it’s an inevitable trend. Lightly sour and sweet flavor, a typical dubbel. Heavy red wine, dried fruits, caramel and burnt sugar. Medium body, for the style quite full, although 8% ABV was evident. Simple sweet&sour finish, again more or less typical. Seems like rb people really like dubbels, this one was least enjoying of the three for me, although without any flaws.

Cloudy brown color, medium sized tan head. Aroma is mostly bubblegum and brown sugar. Taste is similar, with dark fruits and resins as a bonus. Pretty sweet and sugary. Medium body, over-carbonated. Sweet plum and grapes finish. Nice enough. //Craft Room

Bottle 33cl. Very dark amber brown, small frothy beige head, recedes quickly, light lacing; aroma is malty, caramel, red fruit, sour cherry, tart; taste is medium sweet and light sour, fruity, light caramel; medium body, oily to sticky texture, flat carbonation, aftertaste is sweet and sour, fruity, spicy notes; as an Sour Brown okay (but not like the real thing), certainly not a Dubbel.

0.33l bottle. Very dark brown body, light brown foam. Aroma and taste of sour cherry, toast, roasted malts, orange zest and maybe a bit of vinegar. Quite suprisingly sour for a dubbel. It’s more like an oud bruin. Anyways, it’s nice.

9/20/2010 1:22:07 PM Bottle from Beer Planet. A nice dubbel from Huyghe, although I realise I like the style less and less. Amber body with tall head. Nose of caramel, malts, sugar. Quite sweet and poignant. Nice texture.

33 cl bottle at home. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin head. Aroma is slightly sour fruit and yeast, with rich roasted malt. Taste: slightly sweet, tart and dry. Rich malt, stewed fruits and a lactic, almost balsamic finish. Ending tart and dry. I’m not sure that the lactic, tart flavours in this are intentional, reading the other reviews. I hope they are; it makes this better than a run-of-the-mill dubbel. Will try this again sometime. For now, I quite like this.
