A great dubbel.
hazy amber brown color with a lot of particles floating about.
rich taste of plum, other frut, nuts and spices. its like a rum-soaked fruitcake.
sweet but with a floery hoppiness and yeasty flavor.

One of my favorites for sure. If I could afford it, I’d drink it all the time. Rich, smooth, and powerful. Definite hints of raisin or plum. A wonderful aroma, carmel and maybe vanilla?? Anyway...a great beer. Definitely worth a try if you can find it. fishman (350) - Philadelphia, USA - AUG 14, 2001
Interesting, lighter and sweet, without being too malty or hoppy. Has an almost cherry/raspberry? nose and taste to it. Beautifully complex. detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 14, 2007
Pours a dark ruby brown with a huge clump of creamy suds - looking much like a rootbeer float. Nice lacing throughout the glass. Nice sweet malt, raisin, and Belgian yeast in the aroma.
Very full fruity and malty flavors - raisin, plum, brown sugar, grains, and toffee. These flavors are followed by a mild hoppiness. I detect alcohol in the flavor and the mouthfeel. It finishes on the dry side, with chocolate malt and red wine flavors. Drew Blood (151) - Mt.Prospect, Illinois, USA - JUL 4, 2001
A very rich and overwhelmingly complex beverage. I prefer the Tipel, but there is no knocking this offering.

Great aroma, raisens, prunes, malt and bread. Lovely dark brown / purple in color. Fine tan head. Taste is bananas, malt and alcohol. Fine fuzziness on the palate. I cannot believe this is a Dubbel, it is very similar to Saint Bernardus Abt 12. Excellent JonMoore (2067) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 19, 2005
Dark brown with a slim off-white head. Aroma is roast malts, brown sugar, liquorice and raisins. Taste is sweet, but well within my range; malty, fruity and caramel. Some hops in the finish. Moderately carbonated, nice medium mouthfeel. Late warming alcohol. Excellent. Grzesiek79 (4300) - Radom, POLAND - FEB 27, 2012
earthy, cooked vegetables, woody, butterscotch, barnyard, roasty, brown, cloudy, brown foam, medium sweetness, medium bitterness, heavily sour, full body, oily feel, lively, long finish, frieked99 (18) - USA - OCT 30, 2001
This is a rather dark belgian ale. It has a strong aftertaste that is somewhat dominated by alcohol Admiral (524) - Schnecksville, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 2, 2002
Very port-like flavor, less earthy than I like in a Belgian ale but nevertheless excellent.
