Bottle from total wine sterling. Pours dark grape with very little head. Has a musty grape smell on the nose. Kind of sweet on the tongue. Not bad for the price.

Aroma is grapes and a hint of astringency. The flavor is grapes, slightly nutty malts and a long and very tart/sour finish.

Bottle. Hazy purple color, pinkish purple head. Aroma of fruit and citrus. Taste is sweet fruit, tangy citrus. OK.

Bottle. It’s a clear, at least almost clear, dark ruby beer topped by a small, purple head. Cherrypits, blackcurrant and a little earthy touch in the aroma. The flavor is sweet and sourish, but dominated by blackcurrant. Dry, yet sweet on the palate, medium body fullness. The finish is as the initial flavor dominated by blackcurrant, but there’s also the same sweetness and sourness. Overall, too sweet and blackcurrant-ish, but the sour touch saves the day. 110107

Bottle from Half Time. Pours a very dark red. Takes strong light to get through the glass. Head is a sort of purply beige. Didn’t last all that long. Aroma is dark, tart berry. Med body. It’s tart and it’s sweet. It’s quite astringent. There is a black current aspect - I’ve had the jam - but this is stronger and different. This lambic is one of the better sort - sour! I’ve looked for this for a long time. Worth the wait. Finishes sweet/tart/sour and fruity. Excellent.

CanIHave4Beers (4194) - Pouring Bus, Iowa, USA - MAR 14, 2011
Pours purple with a small head. The aroma is earthy with lots of berries, reminds me a bit of the earthiness of fresh raspberries. The beer smells pretty sweet but not particularly soda like... maybe I just don’t drink enough cassis soda. All together it smells very fruity with light notes of soap. The flavor is tangy and tart, pretty overwhelmingly sweet but again not quite "soda-like" Some of the earthiness and sourness cut through all the fruit flavor and there is a bitterness akin to that one might find in real fruit. It’s really very sweet but enough of the base beer shines through on this one to make it fairly enjoyable.

Bottle. Dark red body with a thin but beautiful purple head. Aroma is like strong black currant juice. Flavor is sour and sweet black currant juice. Drinkable but very synthetic and far away from the lambic world.

j12601 (12982) - Poughkeepsie, New York, USA - DEC 29, 2010
Bottle. Good ol’ purple drank. Pours like a grape soda only with a little bit of pinkish brown head. Cassis right up front, musky earthy berries. Smells like a nice jam. Medium bodied, nice light carbonation, some sweetness cassis comes through right away, jammy and dry. A bit of sweetness and tart acid. Way too sweet, very much soda like. Not undrinkable (and as with most of the overly sweet ones, somewhat enjoyable as a soda), but not what I want from a fruit lambic.
