Purplish red with a medium pink head. Aroma of currants, mild sweet malts and grassy hops. Taste is initially sweet then very tart finishing a touch sour and mildly astringent. Body is of currants and berries. GG (2332) - NorCal, California, USA - MAY 29, 2008
Picked up at Booze Bros., while on a recent trip to Reno, NV. I’ve had their other fruit lambics, but haven’t ever seen this one so since I enjoyed the other lambics, I figured I’d try this one too.
I really wasn’t sure what to expect with this one. A beautiful bottle, purple foil, very inviting. The beer pours out a deep purple color with a light purple two-finger head. It really did have some remarkable characteristics of a grape soda. An aroma that was somewhat off-putting. Yes, it had the obvious sweet smelling, fruity grape/blueberry/black currant nose, but under that was something that reminded me of smelling canned green beans. It sort of came and went as I drank down the contents of my glass, but it was there and unpleasant for sure. Mouthfeel a bit on the sticky side, but still smooth enough to enjoy. Flavors had me confused. There was some funky notes hidden underneath the soda-pop like sweetness (not nearly as sweet as their peche or framboise) with huge grape/blueberry/black currant notes. But it’s also a bit sour, a touch lactic and acidic but mostly it’s the over the top sweetness that’s all is there. It didn’t have any of the refreshing offerings the previously mentioned two did. This was a bit of a chore to consume. I’ll pass next time. Headbanger (4020) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 22, 2008
12.7 oz bottle Best By 8/07-Pours purple like grape juice. A small covering for a head. Aroma of blackberries and alcohol with a little cleaning agent. Taste begins with sour and more sour along with the blackberries coming throughout along with some sour apple on the front. Not bad but not good. radagast83 (8301) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - APR 20, 2008
375 ml green bottle. Purchased from Rick’s Gourmet - out of date 8/2007. Pours a dark purple color. Head is a small, but lasting pinkish hue. Aroma is sour blackberries and oranges, not extremely pleasant to me. Flavor was much better. Flavor is sour blackberries, with notes of grape and just overall tartness.

375 ml green split bottle. Fresh before 08-2007. So, another out of date beer from Rick’s Gourmet in Alexandria, Va.
Poured out a dark purple color, with a minimal pink head. Aromas are of blackberries, sour oranges, some biscuit malts. Flavors are of sour blackberries, along with some lambic flavors. Medium mouthfeel, thicker than most lambics. Finished tart and somewhat sour. Not a bad beer, but needs more alcohol to bring out all the flavors. crizay (1050) - Brook Park, Ohio, USA - DEC 13, 2007
Hazy dark purple and big pink head. Aroma is sour and bigtime on the blackberries. Flavor is sour and tart as hell blackberries. Taste like freakin grape juice. Really hard to describe other than it’s about an 8 out of 10 on sourness and taste like blackberry juice. alobar (3879) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 9, 2007
Very nice cassis aroma. Pours a deep purple with a like purple fizzy head. Upfront taste is sweet cassis with an alomost sour/ tart palate. Definitely not sugared up. DonMagi (5593) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 6, 2007
Bottle from beers of europe. Aroma is suppa cassis, actually like cassis liquire that you add to cava, bitter notes. Taste is similar as if the bitterness is coming off the berry’s skin and they’ve added enough sugar, but its still somehow not balanced at all. dwyerpg (6365) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - SEP 22, 2007
Really smells and looks nice. This is much better than the two other cassis beers I’ve had. Very fruity, but not sugared up. I would consider getting this in the future, for the ladies.
