Bottle, room temperature. Clear deep ruby color. Aroma of intense cherry, cinnamon, almond. Taste starts with sweet cherry then acidic sourness. Hmmmm.

bottle sample during the chrismas time last year, i thought it was a joke,,, but it wasn’t. poured a murky reddish colour with some bubbles on top. served warm, juicy fruits, sweet caramalised sugar, lemon, candy, cherrie pie, taste is nasty, and a shame to call beer

0,25 Flasche.

Bottle at the OBER Kerstbier festival, Essen 2014. Served hot. Poured a clear cherry red with a round bubbly white head. The aroma is spicy cherry yeast. The flavour is moderate sweet with a soft warm refreshing sweet cherry, fake sugar palate. Medium bodied with flat carbonation.

Well, why not commercially exploit the St.-Louis brand with something that has to be consumed at 70° C... This concoction had a thin, lilac head quickly dissolving and a deep ruby red colour, clear and admittedly quite attractive. The aroma is dominated by artificial cherry (as in cherry candy or industrial cherry jam), sugar and tons of aromatic spices as in Glühwein (cloves especially, aniseed, cinnamon). The taste reveals a certain tartness but I assume this is ascorbic acid again, very sugary and artificially fruity, with the aforementioned spices dominating the finish. Points for originality, but I still did not enjoy this much.

(St. Louis Premium Glühkriek) 250ml bottle poured into a tulip, ABV 3.2% First half of the bottle served cold. Intense red on the body, thin pink-ish head, well, more on the form of bubbles stuck on the glass’s walls. Intense aroma of cinnamon, candy sugar, some cherries coming from the back. Taste of a cheap whore’s perfume, cinnamon, the slighitiest of cherries, very artificial and chemical, a bit sour too. I hope it gets better when it’s warmed up. Thin body, low carbonation, slightly tart palate. Not good at all. i am pouring the rest of the glass to boil too. A-6 Ap-2 T-4 P-2 O-10 Total 2.4 Second part, heated to 65 C using a cooking thermometer, poured into a normal thick-walled glass as long it reached the mark. The same intense red colour, no head at all now, not even a bubble. Aroma is worse now, it’s again cinnamon but now it seems also chemical and arificial, also a bit of burned plastic. Taste on the other hand is slightly better but still nothing to write home about. The cheap perfume notes have disappeared, a bit more of cherries now, some orange, less cinnamon. The same thin body, even more low on carbonation, if any. A-3 Ap-2 T-5 P-2 O-12 2.4 Both versions were bad, I would prefer the heated one though as it seems to be a tad less offensive. I’d also stick to wine to heat during the winter.

Bottle, thanks Tderoeck! Dark red colour, some white foam. Sour sweet taste with notes of lemon, candy and artificial sweeteners. Also spicy character (cinnamon, gingerbread, gluhwein). Not very good.

Rötliches Getränk mit geringer pinker Schaumkrone. Geruch süß nach Kirschen und Gewürzen, genauso schmeck das Bier auch.
