Dark red. Has a ruby head, mostly diminishing. Aroma of cherries, soap, cinnamon, sugar, faint acid. Flavor is heavy sweet. Syrupy texture, astringent. Low alcohol, but still lots of aroma and flavor lifts the overall score.

Bottle, warmed as suggested. Label says Premium Glühbier rather than Glühkriek, but it’s clearly the same thing. Red colour. Sweet spicy aroma like a Magic Tree car air freshener. And to my surprise this stuff is delicious. First impression is sourness, but it’s a Haribo style sourness rather than a beery one. Then there’s some typical commercial almondy cherry taste with some rather nice cinnamon spiciness. There was a hint of Halls cherry flavoured throat sweets. And Vimto, the long forgotten children’s cherry pop. And finally a curious vinegary impression of Heinz tomato ketchup. No dryness at all. And the warmth gave a rather satisfying emphasis to the taste and made up for the relative lack of alcohol. Pity I only had one bottle.

Flaske: Rød uigennemsigtig. Masser af julekrydderi i duften, smagen ligeså, indtil en svag kirsebær smag tager over. Meget sød med en lille snert af surhed. For sød og julekrydret.

Bottle 25 cl. Courtesy of Ungstrup. hazy and opaque dark red with a small pinkish head. Intense aroma of cherries and almonds - perhaps a little cinnamon also? Medium body with sweet cherry accents, cinnamon, raisins and almonds with a lightly metallic edge. Tasted at room temperature would probably have been even better if hot. But a pleasant surprise. 070209

25 cL bottle, courtesy of Ungstrup. Pours murky purple with a small pink head. Spiced aroma with a distinct almond cherry aroma, very powerful. Sour and solid acidic with a mild spice note and a solid cherry almond note on the back of the nose. Somewhat sweet too. Tasted cold, I expect this to be lovely warm.

Bottle, bought at Skjold Burne, Store Torv, Aarhus. Tasted cold. Pours lightly muddy, very deep bloody red. Fine, staying, pink film head. Aroma has lots of cherries, almonds, good raisins, some good spices and a sugary edge. Low carbonation, fine, lightly dry mouthfeel. Flavour is quite spicy, light tartiness, good cherry flavours. This is really quite drinkable.
