Draft. A hazy deep red beer with a thin lazing light brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with a light touch of caramel. The flavor is sweet mlaty with notes of caramel, and a light touch of roasted malt, leading to a dry finish.

A nice round, malty beer. Could use more carbonation and balance. Somewhat cloudy appearance.

Papsoe (25062) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - NOV 19, 2006
(On tap) Hazy, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head leaving broad curtains of lacework. Tart aroma. Light - almost watery - body with roasted malt notes and a slightly coffeeish edge. The tartness in the aroma has vanished completely in the flavours giving room for a very soft - almost flat - mouthfeel. 151106

On tap at the brewpub. I was very mich surprised when I got this after ordering it at the brewpub. After sitting down in so many German brewpubs and having a beer I’m getting used to getting mediocre weizen, helles, dunkel etcetera. But this one is different. Light herbal aroma. Red color, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, herbal, bit roasted, light bitter, malty. Soft mouthfeel, light dry finish. Don’t expect a Dunkel! Because it isn’t. I think it’s a Vienna.

MiP (15920) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - AUG 11, 2006
Draught. Roasted aroma. Quite cloudy dark brown colour, almost muddy. Stable light brown head. Roasted flavour, OK malty, slightly acidic. Thin mouthfeel. Reminds me of a nice roasted Schwarzbier, except for the appearance.

Gazza (726) - Worcester, Worcestershire, ENGLAND - APR 17, 2006
Draught at brewpub. Intense roast caramel taste with a dry, malty, caramel and treacle toffee finish plus some perfumey sweetness. A strange beer for Northern Germany, where the dunkels are usually very pale and bland.

pivo (2685) - GERMANY - FEB 12, 2006
Light toasted malt nose, dark amber-brown color, low creamy head. Sweet caramelly malt, woody dry end, papery quality too. Medium body. Not sure about the balance on this one. Fo for the pils if you make it to this brewpub.

3.2
YogiBeera (2569) - New Jersey, USA - FEB 9, 2006
On tap at the brewpub: Nice red color, small head. Very weak roasted malt nose. Nice smokey, tobacco malt taste. Not bad.
