Two row spring barley from the south of England, a special strain of yeast, ice-age glacier water from the "Rotenburger Rinne," plus hops from the famous "Hallertau Hop Gardens" in southern Germany are the ingredients that give St. Pauli Girl Lager its unsurpassed quality and taste and keeps you coming back for more.

yellow with small white head. Smells scruffy. Tastes bland. No reason to drink this one.

From 12 oz bottle at the 2014 German Bierfest (ATL). Pour looks good but head had weak retention. Relatively malty aroma is a little more appealing than the more hoppy flavor. Grassy hops linger on and on in the mildly bitter aftertaste.

Not great but not real bad. They call it a lager but it reminds me of a pilsner. Light straw color. Pretty watery for a german beer.

UPDATED: OCT 4, 2014 Overloaded with hay malts and skunked hops. Strange finish that is both pleasantly bitter and watery.

Not too much to say here. White, pillowy head that disappears quickly. Body is a hazy yellow with little carbonation. Aroma is closer to a pilsner than a lager. Taste is minimal with some sweet malty notes in there. Aftertaste is none. A little underwhelming, and not exactly what I’d expect for its style.

Bottle. Pours clear yellow/gold with creamy white head. Aroma is pale malts, light corn, light hops, and faint lemon zest. Flavor is dry and vegetal with some light fruit esters; dry finish. Light body and medium carbonation.

From a bottle. Pours clear dull gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes bad, like skunked sweet corn and old applesauce. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like dull corn and cracker malt.

22.4 FL OZ ($3.69) good lager beer to pour into a big frosty mug. Kind of lager to have with a late lunch in summer after a long day of shredding it up in the studio.

Cheers!

joejames (510) - Jacobus, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 31, 2014
Bottle to lager glass. Pours straw-yellow. Small pillow head, no lacing. Aroma of hay, light malts and skunk. Taste is mostly sweet malts with light bitterness. Light bodied, lively carbonation. Finishes sweet, slight skunk, metallic. Better than American TV beers, not the best German beer.
