At the lower end of the German beer market, but this pils is still good for a few.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2012 Bottle: Golden, clear, small white foamy layer, grassy and papery nose; light bodied and a bit tart, dryish bitter-sweet flavour; bitter and watery finish. Yes, surely this glorious beer will multiply the glory of german beer in the world...

Bottle @ home, picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a clear yellow appearance with a thin off white head. There is some DMS in the nose along with dough, cracker, and some floral notes. A bit twangy note on the finish. Spritzy. Lightly bitter and sweet. Kind of bland and watery. Just a bit of toast. Quite boring and not very good. I can’t imagine a scenario where I’d want to get fucked up on this shit. I’d take a good ol’ fashioned American-made Budweiser over this.

A classic euro-lager-- pale yellow, big foamy head, green skunky hop edge and a dry finish. Many find them boring, but I like ’em!

12 oz. bottle from Northside Tavern. Pours a clear pale gold with a foamy white head. Aroma of malt, mild hops, grain, cereal, grass, and straw. Flavor follows suit, with just the lightest bit of funk- and this I appreciate because so many other German macros have an unmistakable, unpleasant funk to them. I’d rather have that dialed back, and SPG does so. Light mouthfeel, active carbonation, crisp finish and minimal aftertaste. Nothing special, but not awful for the style.

(bottle from a German junk-shop, 35.5cl) Clear, pale golden colour with a blond fluffy foam. Papery and slightly sour-doughy malty aroma with notes of grassy hops. Mildly bitter and sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest if not flat carbonation. Strawy and doughy pale malty taste with notes of cheap and grassy hops; moderately dry and slightly bitter hoppy finish with grassy notes and a bit of cardboard. Dull. 06.VII.12

Bottle. Pours a clear, light yellow with a minuscule white head that diminishes quickly. No lacing. Corn, hay, metallic aroma. Taste is sweet corn, metallic astringency. Seltzer water body. Lively carbonation. Quick, sweet finish.

Pours clear yellow with white head, aroma has notes of some grass, biscuit. Taste is nice hoppy up front, some biscuit and pils malt, finishing slightly bitter. Fairly nice, drinkable.

12oz bottle. Clear yellow color. Bubbles on the side of the glass. Minimal white head. Good crisp and smooth not-overdone carbonation, drier finish. Very easy to drink, refreshing lager. Good bread aroma, light bit of hayish barnyardy hops. Inoffensive taste, just a very light bitterness, good sweet taste. Solid pils. Great to enjoy with mac and cheese.
