4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Skunky lager-like smell immediately releases from the bottle upon opening. Also smells a little like a sharp cheese which "fruitens-up" a bit after the brew starts to settle. Nice, clear dark-amber color that is aesthetically pleasing when held up to a light source. Head starts out rather foamy in an off-white color, and settles down to the surface of the beer after about a minute. There is a light, almost syrupy taste resembles almost exactly Tilburg’s dutch brown ale. Medium-bodied brew with a slick texture. Soft carbonation that slightly tickles the tongue and palate. Bitter finish that lingers for a short while. I would consume this one again.
From old tasting notes. Translucent deep reddish brown. Creamy tan head. Hoppy nose wit sweet malt. Sweet toasted malt flavor upfront. Light hop finish is slightly dry. Niko100 (2940) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAR 30, 2017
Dark brown/black color; Medium body; Aroma of sweet toasted malt, & caramel; Flavor of roasted malt, caramel, and some hops; Finish is slightly bitter; Surprised by this one - decent dunkel. hauxe (833) - Butzbach, Hesse, GERMANY - MAR 29, 2016
Rated from old notes. Pleasant, slightly sweet roasted malt taste. Fizzy, though this rapidly flattens; the head makes a quick exit as well. Light bodied, and with little complexity. Still, not an unpleasant brew and tolerable with food, and in quantity. OK. BlackBeerPG (704) - Darien, Illinois, USA - NOV 5, 2015
Taste is roasted malt, crisp and yet creamy. Dark brown in color and mostly clear. A nutty aroma and a medium body. Smooth head with some lace.
A gentle drinking lager for anytime. ozzy70 (1170) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - AUG 20, 2015

not wretched, and a step or two or three above the classic and the NA. like a light dunkel, has the requisite flavors and aroma, just less of it all. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - JUN 27, 2014
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was a nice looking hazy brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute.
There was a decent dry chocolate and somewhat of a banana like smell.
The taste was mainly sweet and had a decent sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light and showed a decent sessionable aspect about it. The carbonation was mainly smooth.
Overall, this was not a bad Dunkel but not necessarily one of the better ones. alexsdad06 (10471) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUN 27, 2014
Bottle at home from backlog notes 07. Pours a clear brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have toasted malts, caramel, light fruit character, hints of chocolate, low bitterness, flavor falls off on the finish, just a slight off note. jagad5 (89) - - JUN 23, 2014
Pretty bad, especially for a German import. The bottle was flat when I opened it, created almost no head when I poured it, and slaked no thirst as I drank it. Headbanger (3999) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2014
12oz bottle (Old Notes)-Pours a clear medium brown with a small head. Aroma of light chocolate, caramel, and hops. Taste of malt and slight hops. This light to medium bodied brew is not bad but not good.
