This fine beer is a blend of a mature old ale with a younger light beer - just as a true Porter should be. The marriage produces an extremely characterful brew which is dark in colour and complex in taste.

Bottle. Dark ruby colour with small light brown head that turns into a circle in a minute. This beer has medium intensity aroma, mostly of dark chocolate and coffee and there is some caramel, too. A bit watery feeling in mouth with light bitternes at the start and a little more bitterness at aftertaste. OK beer, but nothing outstanding.

500 ml bottle into imperial pint glass, bottled on 3/24/2016. Pours crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, herbal, and pepper; with lighter notes of smoke, char, nuttiness, dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, herbal, and pepper; with lighter notes of smoke, char, nuttiness, dark fruit, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted dark bread, smoke, char, herbal, pepper, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop malt/bitterness balance; some light lingering hop/char astringency near the end of the glass. Light-moderate dryness from hop/char bitterness, increasing through the glass. Light carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.1%. Overall this is an excellent English porter. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Seems like a cross between Brown/Robust porters in style. A very enjoyable offering.

Taste is medium sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee, light apple and bit dark fruit, moderate- roasty bitterness, dryish finish, decent lasting choco finish. Meidum bodied, soft carbonation, bit creamy. Not bad... (bottle, Beer Club Pula)

Brown color with reddish tones and very fast disappearing off-white to beige foam. Aroma is sweet and slightly hoppy, notes of roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, caramel and some light floral. Taste is also sweet with notes of roasted malt and vanilla. Medium to light body with soft carbonation, slick texture and a bitter finish.

Opaque reddish brown with moderate foam. Pleasant heavy roasted, caramel malt in the nose. The flavor is slightly mild, but the caramel and toffee notes come up. Medium body, low carbonation, slightly chewy. I love these bottles.

500ml bottle. Very dark brown/mahogany colour, almost black, with a one finger tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, biscuity, hint of coffee and dark chocolate. Taste of roasted malt, dark fruit, caramel, some bitter coffee notes in the finish. Lovely creamy texture, well balanced, soft carbonation. Really nice porter.
