MelvinKalksma (1105) - UTRECHT, NETHERLANDS - SEP 21, 2016

Aroma:
Slight aroma of malts, caramel, bread and tea.

Appearance:
Clear/hazy amber/red beer with a slight/medium white/off-white head.

Taste/Palate:
Starts slightly/medium sweet with malts and caramel; ends slightly dry with bread and tea.

Overall:
This beer is rather intense and balanced, but lacks complexity. Did not really want to say it is balanced, but figured thats because there is almost nothing to balance. Watery, sweet and dry; thats it.

Handpull cask at the Lattice House, Kings Lynn. Tawny brown, clear with little head but a fair bit of foamy lacing. Tannic British hop to the fore with hints of funk and leather. Taste is mostly bitter and sour, very dry and again lots of tannins taking the lead. Far from exciting but certainly a flag bearer for the classic British bitter.

Pours clear copper color with small, but lasting white head. Smell of hops, malts, slight caramel, a bit honey. Medium body with soft carbonation and oily texture. Taste is bitter and slightly herbal. Aroma of malts, caramel, hops, herbs and spices. Grassy with a touch of honey. Long, bitter finish. Overall, nice one. Refreshing and tasty.

Bottle. Pale amber with a peppery hop aroma which spills over into the flavour profile which also includes autumn fruits. Long bitter finish. Might be better in cask.

500ml bottle from Waitrose. Pours rich orangey-brown with minimal white head. Aroma malt forward with oak, bread, prunes and walnut. Strong bitterness which lingers on the palate.

pityu (681) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 17, 2016
Bottled - Clear amber colour, small, fast fading whie head. Light floral hop nose with sme caramel and butterscotch. Bitter taste with some malty and buttery notes, a bit too harsh hop bitterness without hop aromas. Light to medium body, soft carbonation, watery texture, dry bitter finish. Not bad, but it goes without fine hoppy aromas, just the bitterness.
