"Whisky Beer"
A superb balanced beer with ’smokey’ overtones from peated malt. With a measure of English Whisky from St. George’s Distillery in Norfolk, it is rich in flavour.

500ml bottle at home. Appearance: clear ambe, with a medium, off-white head. Aroma: smoked ham, leather Taste: smoke, ham in, leather and the finish is quite bitter and harsh aftertaste. thin body, average carbonation. Aroma is o a good rauchbier, but the problem is the quite harsh inish.

Bottle at home. Pours a clear amber colour with a medium, off-white head. Aroma of smoke, meat, wood and leather. Whisky in the background. Nice! More smoke in the flavour along with wood, leather and a harsh and dry bitter aftertaste. Has a slick mouth feel, and a medium bitterness. Has a wonderful rauchbier-like aroma but the taste is unbalanced and quite bitter.

Bottle at Grünerløkka Brygghus, march 25th 2014. Dark golden body without a head, soft carbonation. Aroma is malty with peated hints, weak taste of bread, sweet caramel, lightly peated. Thin watery body which does not do the taste any favour. I’m usually a fan of peated beers, though I find this falling short due to being a bit too lightweighty.

Cant quite work out the smell? is a golden colour with no head, taste is disgusting with a rank cloying taste at the back of the mouth. i usually like st peters but this is foul.

As amber as amber comes with a persistent head of cream coloured foam. Some carbonation evident and excellent clarity. The aroma is of phenolicy bonfire-like peat. An aroma I have been in love with ever since I gained my black belt in whisky including marinading myself in Islay single malts. However, my impression is one of dustier grain silo than of bonfire, charry earth or medicinal herbaceous smokiness. This was a similar character in Yeastie Boys XeRReX but it was on a much more massive scale in that one. Anyway, the flavour was of that kind of peat with amber orchard malts that dried nicely and... well I was going to write about a finish, but that hasn’t happened yet and is unlikely to any time soon given the full flush of flavour currently on my palate minutes after.

lacks a little fullness but an interesting smokebeer with lots of peat smoke.
