The St. Sebastiaan Dark is a dark, medium to heavy high fermented abbey beer that tastes both sweet and bitter on the tongue. This St. Sebastiaan has a strong, sweet aroma of caramel and malt and gives you a full taste in the mouth. It is re-fermented on the jug and on the bottle by the brewery. The result is a nice, clear beer with a wonderful aroma and, for those who love it, a nice touch of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

Very dark brown body with a huge off white head. Malty aroma with spices, caramel, brown sugar, bread, some dark fruits, raisins. Highly carbonated, medium body. Bittersweet balanced flavour with caramel, bread, brown sugar, yeast and a slightly herbal finish. Quite nice.

50cl bottle. Dark brown with tanned , cheesy head. Nose : yeeast, toffee, roasted, burned caramel, cheese. Sip : creamy with good carbonation. Medium body. Sweet and full of burned caramel, toffee background. Dark fruits, dried ones like figs. The beer had a mellow finish, very moderate bitterness. Quite drinkable and enjoyable in mouth thanks to creamy body. Its the best St. Sebastiaan I tried for the moment.

This was decent but not nearly as flavorful as I was hoping. Pours a dark brown into the glass with a nice off-white head (filtered). Malts on the nose with notes of some dried fruit but primarily just malt. From the stand point of just a dark beer, its a classic example of a solid dark belgian ale. From the standpoint of fine belgian brews, its a bit one dimensional and pedestrian. Not bad, not great.

Smell of malts and raisin but not sweet, and actually I also get a smell reminiscent of Chinese barbecue. Taste is drier than I expected, malty, with a mildly sweet finish.

Ceramic Bottle. Pours brown with about a 1 finger cream colored head. Head reduces to a nice film which remains for the whole glass. Aroma of raisins, toasty sweet malt, and yeast. Medium carbonation, but very creamy and smooth on the palate. Detect notes of raisins, dates, vanilla, yeast, and perhaps a little cocoa. Finishes very smooth, lingers briefly with a slight bite, then fades. Pretty drinkable.

16.9oz Ceramic Bottle. The pour was a murky dark brown with a slight reddish hue and an average (1-2 finger) light brown creamy head, which reduced down to a medium film and collar with excellent sheeting of lacing. The aroma was strong of a musty Belgian yeast and a toasted grain malt with notes of toffee, dark fruit (dates and figs) and a mild medicinal odor. The taste was a tad sweet with a nice malty feel, a hint of toffee and a slight chocolate presence from the start, becoming ever so lightly bitter with a good sweet yeast taste and a note of dark fruit and a slight medicinal flavor right at the end. The flavor lasted an average duration following the swallow, with a dry, bitter and slightly fruity taste left lying on the taste buds. Mouthfeel was medium in body with a dry, creamy texture and a ticklish carbonation. Overall this was a decent enough Dubbel, which was rich and creamy and had a nice bold yeasty taste. Although I did think it was a bit over carbonated, it did still possess a smooth and satisfying drinkability...

Beautiful looking beer, brown with a red tint and a rocky lacing tan head. Nice fruity aroma with some spice and some grass. The flavor has some fruit and candy sugar, quite sweet but not cloying. The finish is lasting with a bit of burn.

Half of a 750ml bottle poured into a tulip glass. Slightly hazy deep brown color, big, thick and steady dark off white head. Yeasty nose with faint fruit and mellow spicy hops and some sink water. Watery overriped and sweet fruit flavor, lo bitterness, some delicate roast, caramel, alcohol and mold. Medium body, gassy, unpleasant finish, not so good.

Bottle , big creamy stable head, dark burgundy red to brown with rusty streaks, aroma of strawberry and apricot jam, waffles an a metalic hint, flavour of sourdough bread with some burned sugar, tropical fruits, cider and citrus, light to medium body and quite sour, very long fruity finish. Suprisingly different and very good.
