COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The St. Sebastiaan Dark is a dark, medium to heavy high fermented abbey beer that tastes both sweet and bitter on the tongue. This St. Sebastiaan has a strong, sweet aroma of caramel and malt and gives you a full taste in the mouth. It is re-fermented on the jug and on the bottle by the brewery. The result is a nice, clear beer with a wonderful aroma and, for those who love it, a nice touch of yeast at the bottom of the bottle.

The aroma has sugar, toasted malt, and yeast. The appearance is dark brown with a medium foamy head. The flavor is like the aroma with some spice. The palate is ok but a little thin. The aftertaste is bitter-sweet. Overall its ok.

Not much of a head on this one, maybe due to the swingtop bottle...dark brown, slightly hazy color. Light sugary, malty aroma with a bit of cinnamon and brown sugar. Pretty light-bodied. I might try this again to see if its a bit better with more carbonation.

Bottle 16oz swingtop. Pours a cloudy med. brown with a slightly off white head that remains for the entire drink. Nose is plum, but raisin dominates. Taste is sweet but quaffable. The palate is rather light and airy for a dark belgian. Not a bad beer.

Pours a deep mahogany with decent white head and good lacing. Aroma is somewhat muted but some plum and raisin. Flavor is slightly off, not sure why. Not infected, just dank and musty. Some dark fruit comes through before the mustiness hits. I will try again someday to see if another is the same, disappointing.

75cl Bottle. Clear dark brown colour, off white head. Aroma of brown sugar, molasses, dark malts and some metal. Flavour is sweet, molasses, caramel, malts, light roasted malts, light bitter finish. Medium bodied, prickly mouthfeel. OK, but a bit too sweet and one dimensional.

17th May 2008. Smooth brown beer. Slightly sour. Has a mild chocolatey taste and the barest hint of toasted malt. Easy drinking.

Bottle shared at kerenmks place. Dark brown a big bubbly beige head. Malty aroma with a bit of fruity esters, a bit perfumy, yeasty spiciness, caramel, a bit of licorice and a bit of alcohol notes. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, some fruitiness, light toastiness, a faint chocolate note, a bit of licorice and a drier finish, a bit bitter, slightly spicy and slightly alcoholic. Medium-bodied and over-carbonated. OK.

Shared a 33cl bottle from Cora (Luxembourg). Pours an almost clear reddish brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is yeast, caramel and toffee, roasted and bread. Medium carbonation and medium to full creamy body. Flavour is bitter with a sweet lightly boring and dry end. Overall, not bad but nothing special.
