The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region. Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

Aged a few years bottle at home. Very different to fresh. Sediment, cloudy blonde colour, still a big head. Spice, vanilla and marzipan, which I have never found before in this beer or any beer for that matter. I’m a big fan of amaretto so for that the aged trois monts gets an A+.

Huge frothy white head with very good retention. Clear golden yellow. Soft aroma, malty, almost no hop, slight bread and honey. Taste has some bitterness and dryness, medium sweet malty, spicy and yeasty. Some alcohol presence, some caramel too. Crispy palate.

[backlog] 31-12-15 / bottle at home, bought in France. A lot of foam, typical Biere de Garde. Well carbonated. Medium sweet body. Bitter finish. I started rating my beers with Untappd and a few basic notes. Now I want to rate them on ratebeer. So my rating sometimes lack some information. Just ignore it, it is for my personal statistics. Untappd-Rating 2.75/5
