The 3MONTS beer : A wonderful return to nature, with its flavour of yesteryear, this is a beer that was drawn from the wooden metal-circled barrels to fill so many mugs in our Flanders bars! Its bitterness comes from our hop fields scattered throughout the region. Brewed by infusions, it is an old-fashioned rising beer made with strong and hearty Flemish hops. Fermented using top yeasts, like the barrel brewers of yore and clamped like bonderised barrels.

Maris (1514) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - MAY 10, 2017
From a 750ml bottle on 10/5/2017. Pours a clear light golden with a big fluffy white head. Looks suspiciously like a pale lager. The nose is slight, with some earthy and basement notes. Take a sip and there’s lots of bready malt, some citrus, white grape, and a sharp, ever so slightly sour, lingering bitterness. It tastes reasonably big and you get a bit of booze. The palate is quite slick and syrupy, with average carbonation. Drinkable and consuming a bottle has one feeling rather jolly, but fails to inspire.

Not overly impressed. That said, would give this style of beer another try. Maybe this beer, at this time, was not consumed under the best of circumstances.

Bem encorpada, aromática. Espuma abundante e persistente.

33cl

75 cl bottle - 15 to 20 yrs old. Aged very well. Malty , boozy aftertaste. Lots of sediment and yeast flakes.

Bottiglia.

I kept this bottle for almost five years, before the most underwhelming tasting session ever. Ordinary aroma of an uninteresting pale ale, almost skunky as an euro lager, with a touch of sweet maltiness and stonefruit. Flavour is not much better, following the aroma, with a boring grassy bitterness that does not save the day. Colour is as faded gold as the label, with a very bubbly head and the body is rather thin, watery. Gets a 3 on palate for the crispness. Cork clamp is very inconvenient. I have had better ones on this style, but it will definitely put me off for new ones.
