Bottle by 26.10.12. Nose dark toffee and earth, caramel, light hops. Deep amber-brown, dark with a short sudsy beige head. Not really all that sweet or bitter (do we call that balance?), hint of sourness that seems like it might be the winner. A little more fruit in the mouth than nose. Heavy medium-full body, too heavy, and sharp with a crisp fizz. Faint nuts and hops.

Bottle in Schlitz. Pours a clear, dark orangish brown appearance with a tan head. Rich caramel malty, straw nose. Somewhat nutty, toffee, caramel/straw malty, noble hoppy flavor. Pretty tasty.

The head is medium, the body brown. It smells like hops, musty-wooden and strange. The taste is sweet, hoppy, earthy-wooden. Medium and strange 9/7/8/7/8/7

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

Ganz okay.Test vom 22.6.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Bottle from Markgrafen Getränkemarkt, Bamberg
Beautiful amber color, dark, with generous head. The caramel aroma has some sweetness and also some light cereals, and vanilla. Smooth and soft mouthfeel, caramel flavor, moderate sweetness, very light vanilla touch; low bitterness, with a very light impression of liquorice. A fair brew.

Koelschtrinker (18033) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAY 6, 2011
Nettes Dunkles. 8/9/9/8/9/8

Bottle, 5% bought at the brewery. Mildly farty aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Small stable tan head. The flavour is nicely roasted, slightly sweet. Good and nutty. A bit on the sweet side, but nice enough. Spicy hop flavour in the aftertaste.
