Nearly black, beige head. Roasted, smoky aroma. Smoky licorice flavour, almost tar like. Light and quite drinkable.

Bottle, 7.0% as Stallhagen Baltic Porter. Good liquorice aroma, slightly sweet. Very dark brown colour. Small light brown head. The flavour is nicely smokey and a little sweet. More smoke in the finish along with a lot of salty liquorice. Good mouthfeel.

Bottle @ White Terror or Northern Alliance against the Bolsheviks, Sønderborg. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable light tan head. Clear aroma of roast, with notes of coffee, malt and hints of vanilla. Bitter, roasty flavour with notes of smoke and malt and touches of coffee, yeast and hops. Smoky aftertaste with roasty notes. Decent.

Laadukas, paahteisen maltainen ja kahvinen, pehmeä kokonaisuus todellakin toimii. Stallhagenin panimo, Ahvenanmaa.

SvanteL (629) - SWEDEN - JUN 1, 2016

I liked this. A nice filling beer as the wind was howling aboard the ferry. Not too sweet but almost.

Nurmis (782) - Oulu, FINLAND - MAR 5, 2016
33cl bottle. Pours black with medium brown head, lively carbonation. Aroma has roasted malt, liquorice... some light hoppiness. Medium to heavy sweetness, really light bitterness. Overtly sweet for my liking.

JorisPPattyn (10062) - BELGIUM - JAN 24, 2016
Small, dense rusty-beige head over redbrown highlighted black beer. Meaty nose, meatstock, liquorice, chocolate, dark bread, molasses, iron, roast. Short sourish impression at first, smoked, mildly phenolic, with a light but present sweet underbuild. Good balance between roast/smoke/sweet. Quite spritzy, titillating MF; not very big bodied, but slick. Surprising, but quite pleasing beer from these faraway islands.

Black with a brown head - Roasted malt aroma - Roasted malt body with some note of coffee and chocolate - The dark malt goes into the finish - This was good
