Bottled. Dark brown, almost black with low beige foam. Burnt aroma with notes of dark chocolate, licorice and black coffee. Black coffee, dark chocolate and nuts in the flavour with a long finish of burnt malts and chocolate. Pretty nice. PotjeBier (3206) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - FEB 22, 2010
33cl bottle. Color almost black. Lots of toast and roast, coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Sweetish mocca flavour. Bitterish finish. Clean tasting and very flavorful brew. hallinghansen (3124) - Odense SV, DENMARK - MAY 27, 2009
Bottle. Dark brown body, with a small off-white head. Aroma is chocolate and roasted malt. Flavor is roasted malt and coffee. Very drinkable and surprisingly good. TET (2988) - Kaarina, FINLAND - JUN 13, 2008
UPDATED: JUN 17, 2011 Stallhagen Dunkles is almost black beer with a medium and large bubble head. Aroma is pleasant: combination with roasted malts and sweetness plus some smoke and sourness. Flavour is very similar than aroma: some sweetness, roasted malts and still some smoke. Quite easy to drink and there could be more body. This was my first time to drink Stallhagen Dunkles, but better later than ever. Convincing beer and I will bough this also later, nice beer. Erasmus_ro (2905) - Alabama, USA - MAR 3, 2011
330ml long necked bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost black with a light brown head. Aroma is roasted maltiness, a bit of smokiness, more than a hint of salty liquorice. Taste is much of the same and the salty liquorice comes through even stronger as well as hints of coffee. Palate is quite light, but not watery with little carbonation.

Tasted 6/1/07 Helsinki, Finland. 33 cl bottle. Dark brown to black colour with tan head and thick cola like bubbles. Faint spicy aroma with some malt, roasted malt flavor, smooth with burnt/bitter aftertaste. Tranquillity (2251) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 22, 2006
Draught. I really wonder if they’ve changed the recipy since the couple of first reviews? This thing is very thick and smokey, almost like a celtic porter! Very strong tobacco and smoke aroma. Quite bitter, roasted taste of malt. Almost completely black with just a hint of red. Lovely roasted finish. Psytron (2238) - Turku, FINLAND - AUG 2, 2011
Bitter and roasted. Quite unpleasant taste when fridge cold, but considerably better when a bit warmer. Very heavy taste.

330 ml bottle. Very dark brown, almost black. Looks clear, but it is
hard to tell. Dry papery roasted aroma with a distinct yeasty
note. Soft texture with a rounded mouthfeel. Fairly low carbonation
level. Roasted flavours, but they are quite mellow. The yeast can
also be found in the flavour. Rounded flavours with a hint of
chocolate and coffee. Nice, but the yeastiness is bad.
