courtesy of oh6gdx - very dark brown colour under a firm and creamy beige head; nice lace; toasted, almost smokey maltiness, notes of cookies and butter; soft and creamy mouthfeel, low carbonation, sweet and medium-bodied at best, a late but fair bitterness; finishes moderately dry, long, toasted and malty - a nice one KnutAlbert (6760) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 3, 2007
Bottle, thanks PC!
Dark beer with light brown head. A lager, but related to a Baltic Porter, appropriate to its origins. Nice flavour of roasted malt, som nuts and coffee. Dry coffee and liquorice finish. I’d love an extra strength version of this! ako (166) - Turku, FINLAND - JAN 30, 2008
Dark brown, nearly black. Thick tan head. Smokyish, malty aroma, hints of coffee and/or chocolate. Flavor is quite burned but not overly so. Slight bitterness in the finish. Quite dry and light. Very pleasant, even better than I expected. DSG (15035) - Tel Aviv, ISRAEL - APR 1, 2008
(3/1/08) Sample from a bottle (I think FatPhil brought this one - thanks!) at the RB table at Zythos Bier Festival 2008 in Sint Niklaas. Dark brown color. Aroma of malt, caramel, a bit of toast and coffee notes. Malty sweet flavor with caramel and notes of coffee. A slightly watery finish. Medium body. Nice and enjoyable. markas101 (2482) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - APR 12, 2009
Tasted 6/1/07 Helsinki, Finland. 33 cl bottle. Dark brown to black colour with tan head and thick cola like bubbles. Faint spicy aroma with some malt, roasted malt flavor, smooth with burnt/bitter aftertaste.

Pours dark brown with a medium light brown head.
Aroma is roasted malt, coffee and liquorice.
Flavour is roasty with coffee, chocolate and spicy notes.
Very nice mouthful, should have brought some extra ones, with me home from Finland. Jukkabro (3484) - Tampere, FINLAND - AUG 5, 2009
Near black colored with medium sized beige head. Sweet and roasted aroma with thin licoricy-saltiness and smoke, nice aroma indeed. Medium bodied, smooth palate. Flavor is similar with roastiness dominating in start, aftertaste is sweet with licorice and caramel, aftertaste turns to salty and slightly bitter. Finely balanced dunkel. 330ml bottle from an Alko store in Finland, courtesy of Finn Hansen. Described as an unfiltered, hand made slow beer. Bubbly and dense, fawn coloured head. Nice deep, deep, rosewood body. Smell of cocoa and chocolate malts. Sweet dark malts in flavour complemented by herbal dryness and noticeable, balancing bitterness to the finish. A bit foamy in the mouth. Highly drinkable (at home, Tromsø 22.09.2009). esox (1225) - Oulu, FINLAND - JAN 8, 2010
33 cl bottle. Pours black with beige, creamy head. Malty and toasted aroma has dark fruitiness and some salty licorice. Smoke and coffee in the finish. Malty taste is strong and dark, sweet and salty at the same time. Finishes slightly bitter and chalky. Medium bodied, soft carbonated and quite thick palate. It might have had a handful too much colour malts. Chaliness is not that great thing. High quality beer anyway. jookos (6908) - FINLAND - MAY 11, 2011
"Stallhagen Dunkles Export" (I’m assuming it’s the same), on tap at Captain’s corner, Viking line. Dark, roasted maltyness, nice slight smokyness. Soft mouthfeel. Flavourful, much more than your average dunkles. Not that far from a light stout.
