Clean nose of dust, grass and malt. Long lasting fluffy head leaves a nice filigree behind itself. Slightly sweet with strong toffee and mollasses tones that meld beautifully. Clean mouthfeel and slightly astringent and dryon the last palate. Not as unique as the Red Drak (dragon), but senbloodysational!! I said it B4 and I'll say it again, Get it up yer.... dwyerpg (6285) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - MAR 18, 2005
Smells and looks great! Stout too! This is one great stout, er...dunkel, whatever that is...it’s one area of improvement is the same that all Czech beers should have, a more prominent finish. ogivlado (7942) - Zagreb, CROATIA - DEC 3, 2003

Bottle. Black beer with ruby edges and dark beige head. Some very nice velvety molasses, coffee and charcoal on aroma with some dark toffee too. Fullish in mouth, with more coffee/toffee. Finish is dryish. Not too sweet and just a feeling of juicy velvet. Nice beer. mrkimchee (1414) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JAN 26, 2003

(330 ml bottle, airborne from Praha/Prague). Reddish brown colour, deep ruby when held to the light. Very good and thick tan head, good lacing. Roasty and malty aroma, hints of coffee, caramel and toast. Roasted malty flavour, hints of brown sugar but not really sweet, dominant coffee-like bitterness. Difficult to tell how much of the bitterness is from the roasted malts and how much is from the hops. Extracts and artificial colouring, hmm?? This is a tasty brew anyway. A beautiful dark clear brown beer with reddish hues, and a thick moka head. A pleasant sweet chocolate malt aroma. In mouth, sweet chocolate malt balls, cold coffee, very smooth. A nice schwarzbier. Dark brown; Aroma: nutty, toasty, even a little roasty. Palate: toffee, chewy malts, earth, brown sugar. Finish: long, sweet, toasty malt. Starobrno is emerging as my favourite Czech brewery. bierkoning (13449) - La Tropica/Doarp, NETHERLANDS - SEP 8, 2003
Deep dark ruby brown color. Malty peacharoam and flavor. A slight toasted flavor is overpowered by the fruity sweetness. Onlt medium bodied, I expected more. Still a lovely, tasty beer. Marko (5852) - Split / Zagreb, CROATIA - SEP 18, 2004
This was almost suprisingly good, it had an intensive, maybe toasted flavor, with some not-so-subtle hints of spice. I will probably try it again.
