This is one of the best dunkels from bottle I have ever had. Almost pitch black in colour with a good off white head. Aroma is malty with some coffee. Flavor is a blend of the sweetness of the caramel malts, the coffee notes and some spices. gnoff (11138) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUN 1, 2006
Bottle at Arena Restaurant Pizzerie in Prague.
Very dark brown color, big beige lasting creamy head. Malty sweet scent, not burnt but more to the bayern and münchener side. Fresh scent when the glass is swirled. Very rich mouthfeel. Sweet taste, low bitterness. Sweet aftertaste. MiP (16054) - Sønderborg, DENMARK - MAY 12, 2004
Bottle. OK head. Sweet, but well-balanced. Hint of liquorice................ larsga (7675) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 9, 2006
Creamy light beige head with larger bubbles. Deep dark red translucent body. Vague burnt sweetish malt aroma. Taste is sweetish licorice with some roasty malts. Somewhat watery. Faint aftertaste. Decent, nothing special. (0.33l bottle.) rlgk (18843) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 21, 2006
Bottle at Luna Hotel in Prague. Nice amber color, quite fluffy offwhite head. Malty aroma with figs, cocoa, notes of ash and some apples. Malty flavor with toffee notes, some hops that grow stronger in the finish.

Clear very dark amber with a large frothy light brown head. Good lacing. Aroma of chocolate and caramel, quite sweet too. Oily feel in the mouth, more chocolate and caramel come through the sweet body. The beer also has a late fruity kick to it, with blueberry and wildfruits in the finish. Interesting and enjoyable. imdownthepub (15514) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - JAN 23, 2008
Bottled, 330ml with pull ring cap. From Pivovarsky Klub, Prague. Black, red hue, explosive brown head. Sweet and fruity dunkel, a little powdery in texture, but nicely set up with a blackcurrant, loganberry type flavour and a slightly cloying sweetness. Some carbonation, but not intrusive, a little chocolate, dark malt. Reasonably straight forward, uncomplicated beer. weepingsuds (223) - Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA - JUN 10, 2005
Best Czech beer to date, this will have you looking at the bottle twice. The bottle comes with a neat pull tab, almost like a hand granade. Pours into a glass nearly black with virtually no head. The aroma is very spicy and really pulls you in for that first taste. Full flavored throughout the sip, toffee, caramel, and who knows what else. In fact I need another for further review! sayravai (4711) - Helsinki, FINLAND - OCT 10, 2005
(Bottled) Deep, dark, very reddish brown color with a small head. Some roasted malt and licorice hints in the quite mild aroma - maybe too cold. Smooth, licoricey, lightly roasted maltiness with slight sourness and a dryish, burned finish. Sweetish, yet balanced body. Light to medium-bodied, slightly sugary, quite low-carbonated palate. A reasonably enjoyable, sweetish and bitterish brew with a nice flavor and color. "A sweeter Guinness by the Czech". Gr0ve (2176) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUL 26, 2006
330 ml bottle. Dark brown, almost black, with a deep ruby hue. Melanoidan round malty aroma. Dark sweet roasted, but at the same time, soft, malts. Medium-bodied. Some carbonation that sticks to the tongue. Soft and lightly souris mouthfeel. Gentle bitterness. Easy-drinking and not particularly complex, perhaps for other than the mentioned sourness.
