A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

Smaskifa (136) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 10, 2008
0,33 bottle, poured in a plastic glass at the Øya-festival Oslo, Norway. My second try at this one. The first time I ordered it the incompetent bartender actually gave me a Staropramen lager, fairly nice too, but not what I asked for. Anyway. Medium beige creamy head, stays as a wee lid all the way to the bottom. Dark golden burnt umber colour. Fruity aroma of malt and hops, hint of apple. Lovely creamy palate, medium carbonation. Tastes of apple, gentle hint of malt and hoppy bitterness. Nice hoppy finish. Impressive beer, a fine surprise at a music festival.

Pours a one finger cream head that fades quickly, leaving some lace. Clear deep mahogany color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Coffee bean nose. Flavor is roasted coffee some sweetness. 330ml bottle €5.80 Schönes Fräulein Restaurant Helsinki, Finland. From my notes - 7/8/2008.

esox (1225) - Oulu, FINLAND - JUL 22, 2008
Bottled. Pours oily and dark. Medium head is light beige and the beer itself is very dark brown with shades of amber. Malty aroma has dark bread, raisins and some hops. Finish is medium roasted with a hint of coffee beans. Aroma is sweet malty but turns to medium bitterness and some sourness of coffee beans in the finish. Thin and oily texture with a medium body and quite lively carbonation.

Finoman érezni benne a pörkölt maláta ízeit és karamellizált cukros zamatot is,de még sem túl édes és a végén kicsit ott a komló keserűje is.Csapolva az igazi!

Pinball (12188) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JUN 15, 2008
bottle, 33cl, DSB. Sugar, sunburned caramel, bitter aftertaste that is a little odd/harsh. Was it not for the aftertaste this would be a good brew.

coldbrewky (1730) - Hippetown East, New York, USA - JUN 1, 2008
Draft in Karlovy Vary: large rocky head gently nutty nose. Body is Med - some caramelly bits but a tad on the watery side. Oily film of a head that disperses quicly and leaves only thick quaff rings. View is a light brown in the .5L glass. A good bit of light shines thru. It was windy by the Tepla river so the nose was hard to read. Great with goulash.

[bottle] Very malty and toasty aroma with some Saaz hops. Very dark reddish brown with a dense beige cover. Malty and toasty flavour with liquorice and mocha accents. Lightly sweet in balance with light bitterness. Weak but quite quaffable. Light body, moderate carbonation, nutty and sherry-like finish.

mybestfriend (263) - Gothenburg, SWEDEN - MAY 3, 2008
Bottle. Pours a reddish brown with an off-white head. Aroma is a bit roasted and malty with notes of coffee beans and liquorice. A bit stale. Flavour is a bit roasted with notes of liquorice and somewhat sour notes of coffee. Not much bitterness. Quite boring to drink.

dark brown with white head. flavor has some fruity component to the malt but overall is understated. decent
