COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dark lager with an exceptionally fine taste which is talked about with recognition and admiration. Staropramen Dark is exceptional for its calming, full-bodied, sweetish caramel taste with gentle, hopsy bitterness. It is a taste you will never forget.

kapusil (1412) - Budapest, HUNGARY - OCT 10, 2015
0.5l bottle. Dark ruby body, thin off-white head. Aroma of cocoa, caramel, toast, cherries and some floral hops. Taste of chocolate, toast, dark fruits and some floral hops. Pretty nice beer.

The dark Staropramen tastes from dark roasted malt, have a limited hop bitterness and a little flat end.

promontor (150) - HUNGARY - SEP 21, 2015
0.5l bottle from a grocery shop. (I actually tasted it quite a few times in recent years before this rating.) Starts with a nice, silky beige head and very dark brown body. Head is persistent enough to smell and taste: the former is rather neutral, a bit sourish, earthy, maybe. The latter (i.e. the taste) is moderately bitter and has hints of roasted malt and cocoa. The beer itself is moderately sweet with roasted malty character. Silky moderate palate and a bit watery body make it an ideal "drinking beer" and some hiding berry like fruitiness and grassy bitterness make it relatively complex. Not a beer that changes your life but surprisingly harmonic and well done. Could have a bit more bitterness in the aftertaste, though: too sweet for me.

Luvystypotables (1922) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - SEP 16, 2015
A subdued aroma of sweet malt. Pours a chestnut brown with a tan head. Sweet taste of malt with a watery feel, light body and sweet finish.

Brown color, small beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and sugar. Taste roasted malt, caramel. Good dark beer.

Gurthnar (5816) - Bratislava, SLOVAK REPUBLIC - AUG 28, 2015
Tap at Bastion. Quite dry amongst tmave, simple roasty character with a bit of dried fruits. Nothing too special but actually quite palatable considering where it comes from. Okay beer.

2.8
KyotoLefty (10197) - Kyoto, JAPAN - AUG 26, 2015
Tap on the old square in Prague. Some caramel and brown sugar in a relatively lame nose. Rather lame and weak, no body. Crap.

DeanF (2453) - Alberta, CANADA - AUG 20, 2015
Okay soft aroma of barley. Has decent head and an okay darker burgundy body. Flavour is soft barley notes with hints of coffee. Just okay, not exciting, nor complex.

3.2
MarkoNm (2701) - Novo mesto, SLOVENIA - AUG 19, 2015
Pours a coppery brown color, topped with a medium to small tan colored head. Caramel malty aroma, some bready notes, a slight soury feel. Taste is sweet, malty with caramel presence. Bready. Mild bitterness in the finish, slightly soury as well. Pretty decent one. Easily drinkable, light, but enough taste.

A light dark beer which wont blow your head off (4.4.% vol) If you are an aficionado of Bok or Hungarian Bak beers this may be a little to light for you. But a good beer nonetheless and very drinkable, not too sweet, good malty, slightly nutty taste. Only 199Ft or Ł0.45 per half liter bottle at Auchan in Budapest... Good choice to give to friends.
