Staropramen Garnet is a unique lager that fully honours the tradition of our brewery. In the brewing process, which is based on the original recipe from 1884, we mix pale and specialty malts in the so-called "sprinkling" process. This gives the lager its typical garnet colour, gently bitter taste and full-bodied hoppy aroma.

UPDATED: APR 24, 2016 Clear dark amber, beige head. Rich malty aroma, toasted bread, grassy and spicy hops. Surprisingly dry taste with the body on the watery side. At least, the grassy bitterness in the finish. is pretty nice and strong. Not bad. 6-4-6-2-12=3,0/5

5-DEC-2014. ON TAP. Aroma is candied apple with some rotten notes, hints of caramel and just a bit of hops. The flavour is the opposite, the humble caramel is dominated by herbal spicy hops. 6-4-6-3-13=3,2/5

Aroma of malts with some hints of metal. Small head disappearing to thin layer. Clear amber colour. It tastes like Eiffel Tower with some malt.

Kita (2068) - Koper, SLOVENIA - OCT 30, 2014
Bottle, 0.50l, courtesy of CanCrusher. Clear amber brown color with large frothy off-white head, nice lacing and sparkling appearance. Aroma of caramel, hay, vegetables, dandelions with subtle note of berries. Taste starts with light sweet caramel, following is papery with grassy sourness, crisp and dry mouthfeel with medium bitter and quite unpleasant finish. Light to medium body, thin texture and lively carbonation in palate. Total disappointment with such a thin and unbalanced beer...

BlackHaddock (6964) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - OCT 16, 2014
3rd Oct 2014 on-tap inside the breweries Visitor Centre Bar after a tour through their strange presentations (do the tour to understand what I mean). Amber with an off-white head that tried to stay the distance. Aroma is weak, some maltiness but very little of anything really. The taste was semi-sweet malt with a caramel twist and a mini hop presence to keep the sweetness in check (see what I did there?). Slight bitter finish.

[email protected] Amber clear, frothy foamy. Malty nose- caramels, light toffee, light nuttyness, autumny leafy herbs. Soft quite nice round body. Some blandness, but surprisingly nice for something I assume is bulk. Mellow, easily drunk with a slight watery caramel finish.

Rotin (1327) - Neratovice, CZECH REPUBLIC - SEP 22, 2014
Bottle 0,5l. Low grassy hop aroma. Amber color, moderately carbonated. Flavor of both- pilsner and caramel- malts is present, bitterness at low level. Balance is slightly towards sweetness. Bitter, but unpleasant aftertaste. Just commercial czech beer, acceptable, nothing more.

Ascelja (1324) - Neratovice, CZECH REPUBLIC - SEP 22, 2014
Bottle 0,5l. Interesting beer on half way between Czech pilsener and dunkel. Aroma is only low – barley malt and caramelized malt. In taste sweet malt, medium bitter in aftertaste. If is using real hop, it should be very good beer, but with extract (sort of bitterness) it’s only average one.

50 cl bottle. Copper/amber color, big rocky white head, lasting, quiet nose. Aroma caramel malts and somewhat similar to a bitter, cookiesm, some faint fuity esters, bread, leafy hops. Alcohol sensible already. Sweetish taste, soft carbonation, Medium bodied, sticky. Nice polotmavy.

Jesterdeal (1985) - Marlton, New Jersey, USA - SEP 17, 2014
Sampled at the End of History tasting. Aroma is iron, autumnal leaves, and malt. Pours light red with bubbles and light lacing. Taste is burnt bread crust and malt. Mouthfeel is bitter and light. Unpleasant and a poor substitute for a bohemian pils.
