Nice sweet maltiness, almost like a darker beer. Some hop bitterness apparent, more so than Pilsner Urquell but not as much as Crystal. I really have to say that I owe the Czechs bigtime for introducing me to ’lager as quality drink’ as opposed to my previous concept of ’lager as inexpensive summer thirst-quencher.’ pjcoupe (105) - Perryton, Texas, USA - FEB 20, 2002
’No Ballantine Ale’,’No Pilsner Urquell’ then I would drink this one.Very hoppy, very crisp clean and very refreshing. jpknight22 (171) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - NOV 12, 2002
Absolutely one of my favorites. This is one of the crispest, most refreshing beers out there in the style of Pilsner Urquell and Budvar. Nice hopiness. Thanks Czechezslovokia for all of the great beers. Braudog (6676) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - NOV 15, 2002
Straw-colored. Milled barley flavor. Lightly barley malt. Classic. MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - MAY 24, 2003
UPDATED: MAR 25, 2005 Bright clear gold, nice poofy head. Not much nose, but it’s not liked pilsners are known for their stunning redolence. Definitely noticeable hops. Flavor is crisp and clean, lots of sweeter malts, finished up with good hoppiness. Found a nice, soft creaminess in the palate. Good stuff.

Thank you, Central Europe, for brewing the best beers around. So much flavor, and very distinct. This beer makes me want to take a European beer trip. molopas (1) - athens, GREECE - FEB 25, 2014 does not count
Very tasty, easy drinking beer. Slightly hoppy, balanced flavor, golden color and white foam. Much better on tap. An all time beer. tykechandler (343) - Kentucky, USA - FEB 1, 2015

Beautifully balanced beer. Good strength flavour, aroma, hops, crispness and sweetness.
Great on draft on a hot summer evening. Wonderful! opilec (10) - CANADA - AUG 13, 2007
My favourite of the Czech pilseners. Staropramen is great on tap and in the bottle. Possibly the maltiest flavour of the large Czech producers. Let hoppy aftertaste, but still prevalent, as is common with Czech Pilseners. Unfortunately, not available in Western Canada, where I am, but worth a shot if you run into it.
