Bottle shared with the group. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium sized fluffy off-white head. The aroma is mildly sweet, grapefruit citrus, mild resin with some caramel. The flavor has toasted bread, caramel, grapefruit citrus, resin and earthy hops. Good bitterness to the finish, but could use some more flavoring hops.

BillWyce (1086) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 29, 2013
From notes: Poured orangey-amber with a slight haze and a 1-finger off-white head. Piney hops aroma, but much milder than what I’ve gotten from many double IPA’s. Full body, with a slight thickness and some astringency at the finish. Strong piney hops flavor, but not particularly over-the-top.

Im getting floral and citrus hops along with candy and molasses, earthy and yeasty too in the aroma..nice looking orange amber clear liquid with slightly off white head and plenty of lacing..tastes bitter piney citrusy and spicy upfront with candylike maltiness in the background andf a long bitter dry finish..medium bodied and a bit sticky ..not bad but not a big favorite either VERY bitter and dry is the main characteristic here and gets extra points for being a bargain (6pack about 11 dollars)

pineypower (3327) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - MAY 5, 2013
Bottle from Spirits MAnahawkin. Pours an attractive amber/copper color with a small off white head. Aroma is of orange peel, grapefruit, and some light bready sweetness. Taste is complex, citrusy/ fruity hops, orange peel, light grass, some crackers, light caramel that finishes with a solid punch of bitterness on the finish. Solid.

Not bad, not great. Starr Hill makes some good go-to beers, being from NY, this seems like the Saranac of Virginia but a little better IMO. This IIPA has a nice candied citrus pine aroma and a caramel maltiness with an out of place bitterness.
