Pours dark orange hue with a small eggshell head. Nose is minerals herbal hops lite pine and speramint like hop qualities. Flavors are herbal hops bitterness very mineral heavy with notes of resin. Not very lunchy by any means. Body is slick with light carbonation. Finish is very resinous and very harsh. A very sloppy dipa. alexsdad06 (10583) - West Chester, Ohio, USA - JUL 24, 2013
Bottle shared with the group. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium sized fluffy off-white head. The aroma is mildly sweet, grapefruit citrus, mild resin with some caramel. The flavor has toasted bread, caramel, grapefruit citrus, resin and earthy hops. Good bitterness to the finish, but could use some more flavoring hops. From notes: Poured orangey-amber with a slight haze and a 1-finger off-white head. Piney hops aroma, but much milder than what I’ve gotten from many double IPA’s. Full body, with a slight thickness and some astringency at the finish. Strong piney hops flavor, but not particularly over-the-top.

Bottle. Poured a dark golden color with moderate head. Aroma of pine, citrus, and grains. Medium bitterness. Liked the taste. Nice tasty bitter finish. Would get another bottle. coolfunnj (374) - Margate City, New Jersey, USA - MAY 21, 2013
Im getting floral and citrus hops along with candy and molasses, earthy and yeasty too in the aroma..nice looking orange amber clear liquid with slightly off white head and plenty of lacing..tastes bitter piney citrusy and spicy upfront with candylike maltiness in the background andf a long bitter dry finish..medium bodied and a bit sticky ..not bad but not a big favorite either VERY bitter and dry is the main characteristic here and gets extra points for being a bargain (6pack about 11 dollars) pineypower (3345) - Ocean County, New Jersey, USA - MAY 5, 2013

Not bad, not great. Starr Hill makes some good go-to beers, being from NY, this seems like the Saranac of Virginia but a little better IMO. This IIPA has a nice candied citrus pine aroma and a caramel maltiness with an out of place bitterness.
