Draft at the Schockoe Craft Beer Festival in Richmond, 8/26/06: An amber beer. Sugary mlat and an almost tangy coppery metallicness. Nice bitterness in the finish. I liked this fest-style beer. beerking99 (199) - Virginia, USA - JAN 20, 2008
Pours brilliantly clear orange-amber with a big, dense off-white head that leaves lace all the way down the glass. Aroma is bready, malty with some toast character and noble hops. Flavor is a nice toasty-malty character with a counterpoint of sharp noble hops to balance it out. Finish is toasty malt and bread crusts, with some pleasant hop background. Body is on the low side of medium. A little hoppy for a Vienna, but a real nice beer with lots of Vienna toastiness. Onenote81 (1002) - Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA - MAY 1, 2012
Originally reviewed: 11/15/08. Picked this up from a ’make your own’ sixer from the Fresh Market.
Pours a deep gold with a pretty small head. This dissipates to a thin sheet, but leaves a moderate amount of lacing.
Smells of nice floral hops and fresh biscuits. This has a great scent to it. It’s very inviting.
I dig the taste of this. I usually prefer ales over lagers, but this is one well-crafted lager. It has a nice amount of hop bitterness coming through that lagers usually lack. This comes across more like an APA, which is probably why I dig it. There’s a nice balance to it as some of the creamy sweetness also pulls through.
I’ve really come to like the brews from this "local" brewery. This one is no exception. Great beer that I recommend you give a go. jimmack34 (640) - Lancaster, Ohio, USA - NOV 2, 2008
Bottle. Pours a golden orange color with a thick, soft, white head. Smells like sweet malts and some grains. Tastes grainy like a gourmet bread and balanced by bittering and some dry hops. Unusual combination but it works very well. Excellent beer. MilkmanDan (1943) - Eagan, Minnesota, USA - OCT 10, 2004
Copper-orange. Quite malty, sweet and bready, bit toasty. Hoppy, also bit lemony and sweet. Rather good.

Sampled at MCBF. Pours amber with an off white head. Aroma of fruity esters and biscuity malts. Light bodied with a refreshing mouthfeel. Flavor of light caramel, biscuit, honey, and citrus. Clean finish. This is a nice lager, perhaps a little Americanized for the style. This deserves a better rating but lagers do not get much respect on this site. Bottle. A pretty mellow beer for a lager. Light, but has a nice malty aroma. Flavors of malts, caramels, and a tinge of hops. merlin48 (656) - Jenkins, Kentucky, USA - NOV 20, 2008
Clear orange amber body with an attractive offwhite head and good lacing. Aroma of noble hops and bready malt. Light medium body is well carbonated. Taste is nicely balanced. Bready malt has an underlying graininess. Bitter hops are floral and spicy. Some fruity esters add depth. A very nice lager.
