On tap at Goodfella’s in Chapel Hill. I heard some rumors about this so had to give it a try. Pours a slightly cloudy orange with a tan, rocky head that leaves considerable lacing. Great aroma of citrus hops, grapefruit, orange sherbet, pine resin. Taste is very creamy and smooth with great resiny hops, some spice, sweet caramel malt backing, orange blossom honey. Bitter, clean finish. This was all around excellent. DrSilverworm (10000) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 8, 2012
12oz bottle, thanks to Andrew. Bottled 8/08/12. Thin khaki / off-white head. Clear amber color. Satisfactory lace. Tropical fruit, resiny pine, caramel malts, some metallic. Crisp lighter carbonation, dry finish, hoppy aftertaste. Quite bitter. Fine, but I feel like there’s something lacking to these hoppy Starr Hill brews. Fine, but doesn’t really stand out from the crowded field of IPAs for me. However, I tried this on draft at a local bar later and much preferred it to the bottled version blipp (9929) - La Mesa, California, USA - OCT 22, 2012
Bottle. Pours golden orange with a white head. Earthy and herbal hops, and sweet toffee malts. Not that good, or perhaps old. solidfunk (9739) - Washington D.C., Washington DC, USA - MAR 11, 2014
A light citrus taste with some unremarkable malt and an ok session beer quality to it. Pours orangy red with ok head and lacing. Medium bitterness, fizzy carbonation. Tap at 121 Acre. arminjewell (9729) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - JUN 14, 2011
Bonused, thanks a ton! Bottle pour is hazy orange with white head, not lacing extremely well. Aroma has nice pine, resin, grassy notes, some slight grapefruit along with sweet bread, caramel notes. Taste is some pine, resinous hops, some slight bitter grapefruit, leading to sweet biscuit, caramel, touch of earth, finishing slightly bitter. Nice IPA.

Tried a sample at Brewfest Tallahassee. One of their better, but I wasn’t impressed much by their stuff. A decent American hop presence in the aroma and flavor, but hopheads will be disappointed. DJMonarch (9179) - Northwich, Cheshire, ENGLAND - AUG 26, 2010

Fruity hop aroma. Golden coloured hoppy and fruity with a pineapple flavour. Dry and bitter lasting finish. Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - JUL 29, 2009
Courtesy of dkachur. Pours clear copper with gold edges and off white head. The aroma is pine mixing with caramel, sweet malts and a bit of esters that smell like cherry candy. The taste is full with a malty sweetness mixing with pine hop flavor and then moving toward modest hop bitterness and a sense of dark tea. For an IPA the hops are a little too subtle but tasty brew nonetheless. drfabulous (8831) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - MAY 9, 2011
12 ounce thanks to smith4498. Fruity and orange in color. Maybe some mango in there. Light body. Nicely hopped. radagast83 (8624) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - MAY 1, 2009
I heard a rumor about this beer. I heard it was either trying to base itself on the old "New River Pale Ale" that was discontinued a few years back (sadly). Whether or not it’s true, I know that for me, this one beer is at least a good replacement, always awaiting the return of the real deal. Aroma is hops, citrus, florals. Flavor is crisp, clean bitter, hoppy, touch of malts. Very nice!
