I actually added bourbon to this it was so shitty.. Very bland and malty.. Not happy I purchased this
Thin light brown head of fine bubbles that does not linger long. Rich and malty aroma with lots of toffee and caramel, decaying leaves and roasted grains. Color is a ruddy dark brown. Body is a bit on the weak side and lacking in malt body. Dark roasted grains, smoked malts, moderate bitterness which should not be there and some burnt sugar. Some harsh tangyness and bitterness. Finishes malty and smokey. Not a very good scotch ale. jbruner (5012) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JUL 21, 2014
Pours a clear copper red on tap with dense khaki head that lasts and leaves moderate lace. Aroma is slight smoke, carared, yeasty esters of dark sweet fruit, toast and burnt caramel. Taste is pretty typical scotch ale, smoke and sweetness with bready back end. No sign of the booze, thick mouth, soft carbonation. Very nice for the style. mike5326 (1773) - virginia beach, Virginia, USA - JUN 19, 2014
Poured from a bottle. Clear burgundy color, medium quick disappearing off white head. Corn syrup aroma. Sweet malt a syrup flavor with a medium body and medium finish.

Not a bad scotch ale. Smooth with a heavyish mouthfeel. Malts define the beer with some very bready sweetness. Luvystypotables (2029) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - MAY 9, 2014
Mild aroma of malt an roast malt. Dark caramel colour, short lasting well laced head. Sweet taste, hint of hops with a bitter sweet palate.

For some reason, my psycho-kilter is only 8 5%, not the 9.3 in the description. Still, it feels well-balanced to me, a higher ABV would’ve been overkill. Clear medium Brown, sudsy head, little lazing. Good Scotch taste, not overpowering, the longer it sat on my tongue the more I liked it. kramer (6682) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 16, 2014
Bottle. Pours a ear dark amber body under a small fizzy off-white head that faded to a thin ring. The nose is really rich and malty with minimal hopping. The flavor is rather sweet, but a bit husky and grainy at the same time. If finishes a bit rough with some lingering light roast and burnt caramel. Some fairly noticeable alcohol on the finish as well. Medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation and a slight stickiness. Decent enough, but nothing special, a little too husky and grainy. Bottle: pours dark reddish amber with a tan head. Aromas of sweet malt and booze. Taste is some whiskey and bread. Packs a nice alcohol punch, but it’s hidden well. radagast83 (8193) - Arlington, Virginia, USA - FEB 24, 2014
Bottle at friend’s wedding. Aroma was heavy on the sweet malts, with more than a touch of booze. I didn’t actually realize this was 9.3% - pretty masked if you ask me, also probably one reason why I got drunk faster that evening. Aroma was malts, caramel notes, sugar and sweet mild pine. Not my favorite style, but not bad. Foxbush (2072) - Richmond, Virginia, USA - JAN 18, 2014
12 oz bottle for my birthday The ale poured an attractive dark amber color that was translucent. The head was biege and small with lacing. The light aroma of caramel malts and toast. The flavor was more complex with brown suger, caramel, pine and dried fruit. The medium body ale had average carbonation. This is an excellent ale. Well-masked alcohol and sly hop bitterness keep the swallow in check for a warm, neat conclusion.
