Starr Pils is a classic German Pilsner. This beer is crafted with Pilsner malt, German hops and Bavarian lager yeast. It is golden in color with a subtle malt backbone and noticeable hop aroma.

On tap. Light yellow color with a slick of white foam. Aroma is light toasted malt with biscuit and some background herbal hops. Taste is clean with biscuit, toasted malt, minimal sweetness, and light bitter hops. Clean mouthfeel. NIce beer.

I absolutely LOVE pilseners and a great pilsener must be clean & crisp. This is neither.

Pint on tap. Aroma is husky, nearly scorched grain and dry grass. Flavor is dusty old corn, dry grass and a bit of green herb. Long finish has some lemon zest. Near medium body has medium high carbonation and a decent balance.

12 oz. brown bottle to a small pilsner glass
A: Clear straw yellow. minimal head and retention. Nice amount of carbonation. Minimal lace.
S: Grains. Corn? Malts. A veg. note maybe.
T: Crisp, malty with still a vegetal (sort of cabbage-like) taste. A bit of cracker underneath.
Unusual and maybe not in such a good way.
M: Good average carbonation. Light watery but still crisp body. Easy drinking. Not enough to save this beer from being below average.
O: Disappointing. Not bad but this sort of wtf taste catches you off guard. Unfortunately there’s not much else I can discern in the flavor. The unusual and not altogether pleasant veggie sharpness dominates. Will not purchase again.

>> Chill haze straw pour with large white foam and good webby lacing. Nose is fresh apple and pear, white bread, Taste is watery and metallic, decent grassy bite. Dry, not sugary. As it warms, it gains a bit of butterscotch and yellow cake. Not bad at all, but unsure of why you would buy this over Prima Pils or Pivo Pils.

Pours a soft and pale straw blonde with two fingers of white frothy head that is quick to dissipate to a tight ring around the edge of the glass. Nose is grassy with notes of wet bread and sweet malt. Lightly metallic. Grassy and lightly bitter with bready notes and such. Very light bodied and crisp.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a straw color with a two finger white head. The head fades rather fast to give a good amount of lacing.

Smell – The smell is mainly of malt with a hop base largely of citrus lemon and a light grapefruit. Mixed with this is some light aroma as pine as well.

Taste – The flavor starts out on the bready side. It is soon meet with a lighter citrus hop flavor. These hop flavors mix with a light earthy hop flavor which seems to mix with the citrus and leave a lightly bitter-crisper flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – Very average in terms of carbonation (medium level) with a very average level of carbonation. Good for the style.

Overall - Easy drinking with a good crisp flavor and a nice clean taste.

DATE REVIEWED: July 6, 2014... GLASSWARE: Paulaner pokal... OCCASION: 4th of July yardwork and party unwinding... APPEARANCE: pale, tawny, watered-down yellow body; white head sits with an appropriate pillowy arc, then settles out as a reasonable, albeit soapy ring; sporadic, tentacle lacing... AROMA: spritzy, light pale malts suggest pilsner; some bubblegum as well, but not much more in complexity... PALATE: medium-bodied,, yet light in carbonation; a pleasant, lingering aftertaste; a good partner for post-mowing deck relaxation...in essence, a slightly uncomfortable mouthfeel... TASTE: a predictably clean, taut malt assertion; biscuity at the finish; hops are clean and balancing... OVERALLL: little distinguishes this beer from the myriads of pilsners within the genre, but that is a positive in some respects; as a fourth of a sampler, hopefully not the one to be rushed towards, but that will depend on the rest of the mix...for now, serviceable and palate-cleansing...

Hangover (1145) - oxford, Georgia, USA - JUN 29, 2014
Hazy golden puor with a thin white head. Aroma is mostly straw with light lemon. Nice cereal maltiness, bread, some faint citrus. Nice, crisp finish. Pretty good pilsner, nice body and refreshing.
