3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tried on tap from Starr Hill at GoFest. Pours a slightly hazy golden color. Head was full but dissipated quickly. It’s actually quite a nice hefeweizen from a local brewery. It’s missing some of the wheat flavor that would be expected from an excellent brew, but the traditional clove aroma and flavor is there as is the tartness on the finish.
Bottle. Cloudy, gold in color with a large three finger head. Aroma cloves and bananas. Taste is cloves and bananas. NikkTwist (3401) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 12, 2017
UPDATED: OCT 12, 2017 Draft at Macs. Cloudy yellow amber pour with a diminishing head. No lace. Navel oranges. Banana bread. Peach. Clove. Blonde caramels. Lightly toasted malts balanced with mild hops. Easy drinking. Nothing complicated. Bit flat. OnTheTrail (603) - Virginia, USA - AUG 31, 2017
Pours hazy medium yellow, white head. Aroma is wheaty, cloves, ripe banana, yeast, ripe white fruit. Taste is slightly tangy, lots of ripe fruit, typical wheat bear notes. Mouthfeel is smooth, creamy not too heavy. A very pleasant, drinkable beer. cazort (568) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 20, 2017
(Can) This was the last of the four beers from Starr Hill that I tried, and like the others, I drank it twice before reviewing it: once from a glass, once from a can. Very aromatic, and smells just like a classic hefeweizen...there’s the distinct wheaty aroma, and strong notes of banana and clove. It was evidently so fruity, a fruit fly that was hanging out in my kitchen flew right into the glass after I poured it. When poured, head quickly dissipates, leaving a hazy orangeish-yellow cup with no visible head or even foam residue on top. Carbonation is oddly prickly, leaving sharp sensations on the palate, more like what I expect from seltzer water than beer. Pleasantly light-bodied. Little sweetness, which I like. This beer is eminently refreshing and pleasant to drink on a very hot day. The prickly carbonation is odd and atypical for this style, which I usually think of as being very smooth, but once I got used to it, it was very enjoyable. Probably my favorite beer out of the sampler. AWS9 (752) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 21, 2016
Bit flat, wheat-y but no complimentary citrus or banana, which tends to be what makes a wheat beer stand out. Disappointing...

On tap at Paramount, Birmingham, AL, 3.5.16. Clear-to-hazy blond with a white head. Faint green banana aroma along with faint plastic. Sourish taste. Banana at first and then mild bitterness with a hint of clove. Light body, soft fizz, abrupt fruity finish. commonmac (1367) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - MAY 27, 2016
Short five ounce pour at the brewery. Very cool space. Commonshawn, rosskyle, and samadouche present. Light straw golden with a hazy lean. Nose has some minor banana with traditional hefe spices. Taste is pretty tame and not all that amazing. Notes of banana with a healthy dose of wheat characteristics. Bitterness is a little too heavy which holds it back from being above average. slowrunner77 (13171) - Reno, Nevada, USA - MAY 14, 2016
Better than expected fruit forward hefe with banana and light clove spice. Refreshing in the muggy weather. jrodooo5 (1748) - DOVER, Delaware, USA - MAY 14, 2016
A light and slightly refreshing summer time brew. Decent light gold pour w/ a white head and some lacing. The aroma contains some light spices. The taste is similar as it’s pretty clean w/ just an underlying hint at the spice. Decent mouthfeel and overall just ok. Not remarkable but drinkable nevertheless! American wheat, banana and cloves, yeasty with a slight sweet aftertaste. Not bad.
