COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Starr Hill’s Whiter Shade of Pale marries two bold beer styles: the Belgian Wit and the IPA. Two row and wheat malt provide a soft base beer for intense fruity and spicy esters of the unique Belgian yeast strain while enhancing the strong hop aroma. Whiter Shade is a refreshing IPA to enjoy during the summer.

brownaler (707) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - NOV 8, 2016
Solid Belgian malt profile with a bitter and bubbly finish. For a wheat like IPA, it doesn’t have any straw character.

argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 5, 2016
Draft. Soft off-white head that leaves nice lacing atop clear apple juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, lemon, orange, light coriander. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, some coriander. Light-medium body, some resin, light acidity.

nearbeer (5606) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - MAR 12, 2016
12 oz. pkgd. 07-20-2015. Slightly hazy yellow with a thin film of creamy foam. Nose is spicy pollen, honey, bread, evergreen resin and a bit of citrus zest. Tastes of the same mix, plus some peach and a strong finish of mint and coriander. Light-medium bodied with medium-high carbonation that’s a bit too fizzy. Nice balance but the minty hop finish makes the taste a little boozy/mouth-washy.

Draft @ DAS BEST Oktoberfest, Baltimore. Pours a hazy yellow color with a small white head. Has a fruity citrus hoppy aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy flavor. Has a fruity malty citrus hoppy bitter finish.

Smells sweet and tastes like it smells. Maybe a little too sweet. Unexpectedly thick mouth feel. Good beer but not great. Tap.

altonbrownd (5897) - Chevy Chase, Maryland, USA - OCT 22, 2015
Bottle from Beer and Wine. Light amber body with medium, puffy head. Nose is hoppy, tangy, floral. Taste is also hops, lots of citrus bursts, and wheat and maltier in the finish. Really nice.

3.4
Luvystypotables (2067) - Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA - SEP 26, 2015
A very sessionable beer, aroma of hops, floral and citrus, with a hint of grain. Pours a hazy gold color with a lasting white head. Taste of hops and grain with a dry chalky feel and a mild chalk finish.

on tap at the brewery; amber color; nice, citrusy hop aroma; lots of citrusy hops with corriander notes and Belgian yeast on a light malt base

Crisp, slightly hazy golden coloured body with a thinnish just off-white head. Aroma of light wheat, grass, a touch of hops and some light citrus sweetness - not much going on. Medium-bodied; Strong wheat and floral flavours at first with a touch of coriander seed and a more metallic and piney taste than I’d expect with a surprisingly big malt flavour that doesn’t show the ’white’ portion much. Aftertaste shows some subtle hops with a little grassy and herbal quality, but mainly a malty and sweet finish. Overall, a decent White IPA at best, but this is more like a traditional IPA than I’d expect, and not a great one, as well. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Harris Teeter in Arlington (Pentagon Row), Virginia on 07-July-2014 for US$7,99 sampled at home in Washington on 19-August-2015 a few hours after returning from South Africa to get a taste of what I was missing being in Africa...but this disappointed a bit.

hopdog (13102) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 3, 2015
12oz bottle. Poured a clear gold color with an averaged sized off white head. Spicy hops dominate. A lighter citrus and fruitiness.
