Bottle. Dark brown color with a nice big off-white head. Toasty malt aroma with dark bread and some caramel. Sweet flavor, a bit sugary, but not cloying, with malt, kvass-like notes and light toasty hints. Finish is also quite sweet. Light-medium-bodied. Surprisingly quite decent and easy-drinking. tomer (3516) - Rishon Le Zion, ISRAEL - JUL 13, 2012
Bottle, small stable bubbly head, clear dark brown colour with some burgundy taints, aroma of cheap port with caramel and dark bread with some metalic notes, same caramel and dark bread dominate the flavour, quite sweet with very little sourness and almost no bitterness. Why must russian dark beers almost allways resemble kvass? Petronius (55) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAY 9, 2012

Single bottle purchased from a grocery store in Krasnaya Polyana, Russia on 03/06/2012. Colour: Extremely dark red with no head. Nose: A very distinct and dominant burnt sugar aroma - clearly some nice toasted malt. Lots of dark grains. Taste: Medium sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. The caramel is abundant and plays the lead vocals here. A one-man band. Oakes (17668) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 16, 2011
Chestnut brown. Has the aroma of bread, lots of sugars. This has a good dark sugary character. A bit like an American Dark with deep Asian sugars. It’s sweet, but the flavours are nice. FatPhil (16102) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 4, 2011

5 Incredibly sweet caramel and toffee aroma. It’s just pure sugars all the way.
4 Very deep red. Brief head.
5 Very simple taste, not much character at all, just a dull sweet roast that’s more caramel than malt.
3 Smooth palate, pleasant carbonation. More sugar in the finish. Late finish has a slight hint of earthy hops.
10 Well, it’s pretty trashy as a formula, but slips down easily enough. Desperatly short of any character apart from caramel.
Bottled, thanks SaintMatty! Clear nut brown, rich firm head. Sugary nose. Super sweet with spun sugar and sweetened caramel. Light-mediu mbodied with syrupy mouthfeel, no bitterness. A cloying mess. estpiwo (1319) - ESTONIA - MAY 8, 2011
Bottle. Dark brown color with creamy head. Fruity tones in aroma, maybe instant coffee also. Caramel taste, sweet malty tones. Bitter finish. Little surprise for me, more better than other Melnik brews.
