tarmok (1433) - Tartu, ESTONIA - JUN 17, 2015
dark mahagony clear liquid with white head. Aroma: roasted malts, caramel, Taste: medium sweetness, lightly bitter, lightly sour, roasted malts, caramel. Palate: light body, creamy, average carbonation, long bready finish, ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - MAY 23, 2003
Bought this beer in bottle at a market in Pskov, Russia. I was pleasantly surpised. It rivals Baltika 6 as the best Russian beer I've had (which isn't saying too much). Roasted malt aroma with some sweetness. Reddish brown body with white, frothy head. Avg. sized head that is mostly eroding. Looks like a coca-cola with less carbonation and with a frothy head. Not much lace to speak of. Flavor is rich and malty; dry and chalky. Pleasant. If I lived in Russia I would probably buy nothing but this and Baltika 6 (until I find another winner). ogivlado (7955) - Zagreb, CROATIA - APR 26, 2006
Bottled(500ml). -dark ruby coloured, little pale brown head, sweet malty and light roasted aroma with slight toffee notes, too sweet syrupy finish fiulijn (21022) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 15, 2003
Brown-amber color. Regular dark beer with a lot of caramel, but not impressive (and tastes a bit like old beer). Boystout (1000) - Chisinau, MOLDOVA - AUG 11, 2004
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2004 Sweet, malty and even slightly roasty aroma above the glass of beautifully ruby liquid. Taste is malty, winey, fruity (plums and cherries) with fine dose of bitterness in the aftertaste.
rauchbier (3924) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - JAN 28, 2003
Bottled. Black brown, low head and condition. Initial roast barley aroma soon overtaken by a solvent/alcohol note. More roast flavours in the mouth with hints of raisins but the finish becomes thick and syrupy-sweet.

Sticky sweetness (flat cola notes evident, and this bottle isn’t that old--production date 2 months ago in Tatarstan), some toasted malt, almost bizarrely alkaline finish...that said, not terrible (I bet the earlier 6+ % abv version was better, but now it clocks in at 4.6% abv) leaparsons (10696) - Wigston, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 11, 2002
Quite an odd beer. Similar to a malt liquor, but lighter. There are strong alcohol notes and a chemical nastiness in the finish. omhper (25544) - Tyresö, SWEDEN - MAY 12, 2003
Bottled. Chestnut brown, Richly malty with soft mouthfeel. Still it gives a bold and clumsy impression, and points are also deducted for the syrupy finish and lack of complexity. Ungstrup (38242) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - AUG 14, 2003
An amber beer with no head. The flavor is sweet and slightly bitter. An OK beer - but nothing special.
