COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An ale deep auburn in colour, we use a blend of Munich, caramel and chocolate malts to create a rich malty palate with a lingering dry chocolatiness.

Pours hazy dark brown with some beige head. The nitrogen pump does not help a lot. A malty aroma with hints of toffee. Sweet with a chocolate toffee finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft - Nitro - Toasted malts and nutty. Deep maroon with a rich light brown head. Toasted malts and toffee with some twig. Not bad.

On tap at Steamworks, pours a fairly clear dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out light toasted nuts and bready malt. Flavour is very English, with toasted malt and bready notes. Very light and restrained. Nothing wrong wrong this, it’s just not very intriguing. Okay.

Has an aroma of nice sweetness and malts. Looks good with a brown body and with a fat creamy head. Flavour is a decent wood and nut flavour but it’s highly simplified. Weak mouthfeel as well. It’s a reliable but predictable brew.

Blah.

On tap.Not so bad, very dusty, American style brown. Lacks the "sweet nut" oomph as it’s dry, a bit of coffee but yeah apparently I’m a fan of dusty nuts.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2012 Meh... Maybe it was just that it came to me too cold, but this was bland. It had a small roast smell; was ruddy red in colour; mid-medium bodied; nutty-flavoured with decent malt and a hint of something sour; dry, unsettling finish. Bartender told me it was their most popular beer. It’s not their best.
