Poured from the tap. Medium dark brown with beige head. Mild toast malt and nuts. Simple, but well done.

Really quite good for this style. Cocoa, nuts, roasted malts, dry finish. Roasted malts throughout, toasted rye bread, light caramel malt, floral and mild spicy hops. Medium body, moderate carbonation; just a dry, dark easy to sip beer.

VertBaconStrips (2428) - Blerkablerka, VENEZUELA - SEP 27, 2016
Tired, drank half the bottle and fell asleep. I’ll get this in during a very brief coherent moment. Smellz wonderfully smooth. Toasted, mellowish chocolate, appealing sweetness at a low level, nutty and instant impressions of slight smoke. The taste is simple yet satisfying. Mildly dry, the slightest of a bitter twinge, soft roast, nuts in my mouth, sort of cocoa, I can convince my taste buds of a whisper of smokiness. Smooth and beyond drinkable. Another satisfying offering from S&O.

Bottle, shared with Robbie. Dark walnut brown with copper highlights. Equally toasty and roasty, mild bitterness. Quite nice.

Appearance: clear brown with one fat finger of fluffy light tan head, chunky lacing. (4/5) Aroma: roasty malts, dry cocoa, light coffee, mild smoke, lightly nutty. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium-light body, moderate carbonation, off-dry mildly bitter and slightly smoky finish. (3/5) Probably one of the better dunkels I’ve had. Mild, pleasant, and reasonably well-balanced. I mean, it wouldn’t be Steel & Oak if it weren’t smoked, right? But the smoke isn’t overwhelming, and despite the colour, it’s not heavy. (14/20)

GothGargoyle (2588) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 9, 2016
Clear deep ruby brown with a good beige head. Aroma is brown sugar, dates, bread pudding, hint of chocolate. Medium bodied, creamy mouthfeel, smooth and nicely balanced on the palate, subtle astringency on the finish. Taste is bread pudding, dates, chocolate, lightly toasted hazelnuts.

Nice smooth dark lager with notes of chocolate, roasted malts and light coffee. Easy drinking and flavorful... Great first impression from this brewery!

Hungover (109) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JAN 5, 2016
UPDATED: NOV 3, 2016 Yum! Chocolatey malty well balanced burr poured out of a bomber. Seemed medium bodied, lively and delicious. Grabbed it from Coal Harbour Liquor Store.
