On tap at Red Cow North Loop. Pours black with a creamy deep wood brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has a nice combination of dark grains and roasted malts with a hint of barrel coming through. Flavor has some dark fruit with a good amount of dark grains supported by barrel and a hint of roasted malts. Stine (1795) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JAN 23, 2016
Black pour, no other hues, light tanned foam. Whiskey informed aroma heavily leaning on coconut, vanilla, browned butter. Roasted malts and tannic fruit undertones are present but treading water. The flavor is confused and mired in the same conflict. Without an amplified malt structure the spirit influence is suffocating. Creme brûlée and toasted coconut, German chocolate cake dripping cloyingly, all over this; the fruit and rustic spice characteristics of the original lacquered over. Still somewhat fun, warming, and high quality to the expected degree. ryanfolty (2585) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - DEC 5, 2015

Keg @ Steel Toe. Deep brown pour with a thick tan head. Nose is rich and full of whiskey character. Boozy raisin and vanilla dessert. Toffee. Sweet grain. Tart fruit skin. Some black pepper. Nose-prickling heat. The flavor is pretty well balanced. Sweet and toasty. Lightly hot finish. Pretty oily. islay (2925) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - JUL 12, 2013

Tap at brewery. Pours dark with a light head. Aroma is bourbon, malt, chocolate, molasses. Flavor is bourbon, malt, chocolate, with kind of a disappointing finish, nice beer overall though. TheHOFF43 (2052) - Robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA - JUN 13, 2013

Overall, this tasted to be a heavily barrel aged malted beer. As it warmed up it got much nicer to drink & smell. The dissent was hard to pick out of the beer though. XmnwildX12 (2079) - Farmington, Minnesota, USA - MAY 22, 2013

Awesome variant on this great regular dark ale. Aromas is big boozy bourbon and this tastes like a lighter BCBS that you could actually have more than one of in a night.
