Bottle shared by ab3shine. Poured black color with an average frothy light brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Medium to heavy dark malt aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted dark bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good and my expectations where met. queenholly (3623) - South Whitley, Indiana, USA - NOV 25, 2012
Bottle courtesy of Atom. Chocolate, molasses, prune, and light smoky aroma. Black with a small brown head. Chocolate, coffee, ash, slightly acidic, and a little dark fruit flavor. Medium to full body, moderate carbonation. Very enjoyable. burgy (456) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - NOV 19, 2012
Draft at brewery. Nice deep and dark the only thing lacking was the palate. For a stout it was not as creamy as I prefer. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Draft at republic, Mnpls. Rich, sweet, milk chocolate aroma that is somewhat faint. Fully opaque body with light brown head. Sheet lace...lovely. Creamy engine oil consistency. Really nice. Smooth, rich. Outstanding brew. b3shine (9079) - Indiana, USA - NOV 11, 2012
Bomber to snifter (thanks kbutler1). Looks good; black with tan lacing. Smells malty and a little roasty. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Solid beer.

Draft sample. Black in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of blue plum, milk chocolate, and mocha flavored coffee. Flavors are of chocolate malt, ash, earthy hops and a hint of cherry. Medium bodied. A solid straightforward stout. jmikolich (1477) - North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA - OCT 31, 2012
Bottle from Zipps, Nice dark brown nearing black pour nose is roasty and malty, body is a bit thin which surprises me given the oat addition, a good solid beer glad to see Steel Toe doing their thing. tennisjoel (1485) - Rochester, Minnesota, USA - OCT 23, 2012
Dark brown pour. Not knowing what style of beer this was before drinking, I thought it might resemble a dunkel, a very good one at that. Some smokiness in the flavor, sweet caramel and oatmeal. Incredible mouthfeel. A nice start to my journey with Steel Toe beers. Steasy66 (1158) - Minnesota, USA - SEP 27, 2012
On tap. Not quite black, little head. Malty sweet aroma. Sweet, toasty, bit of hops. A bit thin, highly carved. Stine (1797) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - SEP 20, 2012
Syrupy black pour that shines ruby around the edges and retains a mocha like foam. A heavy, detailed aroma; at times, bright and fruity, and at others dark and intense. Richly spicy and earthy with coffee, cinnamon and gingerbread; lots of candied and overripe red fruits. Slow to emerge, composed, and made interesting by its abundance of yeast and hop presence.
Strongly vinous flavor; cherries, raspberries and figs work with a big, bright citrus hop note that really stands out. There’s plenty of velvety dark malt laying calmly beneath.
Medium, fairly effervescent texture; easy to drink. A lot unfolds at the finish; rich raisiny cavendish tones give way to an awesomely meaty, smokey roast flavor, long after swallowing. A winningly unusual take.
