This is a very tasty dark ale. Not as much hops as I would have like but that’s not the style anyways. Very smooth and delicious! mrhowes (22) - St. Paul, Minnesota, USA - JAN 1, 2016
Wonderfully smooth stout. Creamy medium brown head. Despite the higher alcohol content (7%), this one was so easy on the palate. You really don’t taste the alcohol. ElGaucho (2401) - Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA - NOV 13, 2012
Draft at republic, Mnpls. Rich, sweet, milk chocolate aroma that is somewhat faint. Fully opaque body with light brown head. Sheet lace...lovely. Creamy engine oil consistency. Really nice. Smooth, rich. Outstanding brew. steeleliver (130) - Minnesota, USA - DEC 27, 2012
On tap from Republic, MN. Pours rich dark brown with short mocha colored head, less than half a finger. Opaque red around the corners of the glass. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, and oats. A bit on the sweeter side. An excellent palate, very smooth and a bit oily. Warms up the soul on a cold winter day. jmagnus87 (2912) - Rockford, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2013
Growler from kbutler1. Huge thanks Kevin! Pours black with a half finger of thick tan head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate with huge Roasty notes and a decent bit of dark fruit. Taste is light bitter and follows aroma. Loads of coffee and chocolate. Full bodied with a thick creamy texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, awesome. I could drink this everyday.

Thanks to Bob for the bomber. Poured deep brown with a dense, well-retained khaki head. The aroma picked up sweet milk chocolates and rolled oats, with fresh earthy accents.. sweet overall, and very pleasant to smell. The flavor found sweet and a little darker chocolate at the core, with plenty of ashy, well-roasted black malts too.. a touch of fruit joined sweet chocolate, oats, and roasty black malt on the long, dry, tasty finish. Medium-bodied, well-carbonated, and silky on the palate.. loved the lingering roast and bitterness.. great brew! arkurzynski (2427) - Combined Locks, Wisconsin, USA - JUL 15, 2012
Bottles thanks to portableparty. Deep black with soft mocha head. Great roast aroma with hints of bakers chocolate, coffee, and dark fruit. Ultra smooth roasted malt and coffee that ends just slightly acidic and with mild dark fruit. Velvety and delicious. Lingering bitter chocolate roast. arnold931 (1263) - Iowa, USA - JUL 19, 2015
Draft at Happy Gnome. Pours dark brown with tan head. Nose is cocoa and roast. Taste is coffee, powdered cocoa. Nice dryness in the aftertaste. douglas88 (9187) - Portland, Oregon, USA - SEP 29, 2015
Bomber. Pours a wonderful jet black color with a large light brown creamy head. A great nose of metal, dark fruit, heavy roast. Oats make this very creamy and full, big dark chocolate, some lactose, the roast is pretty heft, metallic lingering licorice and bitter hop notes. Lovely beer. Yeah, 7% big old stout is my kind of beer. beerbill (3618) - Laurel, New York, USA - MAY 2, 2012
22 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with Atom. Pours black with a moderate brown head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Very pleasant aroma of roasted malt with ample chocolate and coffee present in the nose as well. Very inviting. The flavor is similar again with roasted malt and lots of chocolate and coffee. Moderate roast bitterness at the finish. Rich and smooth on the palate. Full bodied. Very nice beer!
