Bottle:   Very dark, deep brown, burnt brown sugar hues, thin foamy beige head, little lacing.   Huge graham cracker, rye, whiskey, woody nose, with hints of caramel, toffee, burnt brown sugar, vanilla, and dark chocolate.   On the tongue its equally complex, and smooth too.   Not cloying, not thin, just perfect.   The 14.4% ABV is shockingly easy to drink.   Don’t get me wrong, it is very warming, but its not burning or alcoholic.   Very clean, and very English like in that its on the malty side.   Hops are... well, who cares, this is sweet, malty, with all the whiskey like aromas and flavors that you want in a whiskey barrel aged Barley Wine.   So smooth, so easy to drink, just wonderful.   Big thanks to Skyview for sending this gem my way!   Thanks Bob!!!
750 mL bottle, shared. Thanks TheHoff43! It’s been a while since you sent this to me. Pours unclear brown, with a small, tan head. The aroma is intense toffee, vanilla, syrup, walnuts, and rye. Sweet and boozy, with a mild bitterness that serves to balance this out nicely. Heavy body, sticky, warming, and clinging. This is a lovely beer, and the barrel adds a nice level of character. Rating 4900. Bottle, May 2015; tasted Nov 28, 2016. Murky brown color with a whispy head. Big molasses, sugar, boozy aroma. Rich caramel, toffee, prune, and fig flavors. Bottle (750 ml). Pours dark brown with no head. Whiskey and malt aroma. Raisins, plums, and and whiskey notes. Almost viscous mouthfeel. Very smooth.

Bottle (750 ml) shared at tasting. 2012 vintage. From SourNotes, thanks! Dark amber with no head and leaving no lacing. Flavors of bourbon, alcohol, caramel/toffee, chocolate, oak, rotten fruits and a bit of cardboard. Taste is quite sweet and also rather boozy. Full body. Moderate carbonation. Liquorous mouthfeel. Disappointing that this nearly 15% abv monster can’t hold 3-4 years before starting to show signs of oxidation. It’s malty but I’ve had less strong beers with much more malt depth. Bourbon is still strong. Unbalanced a bit. Subpar.

Sampled at a fest and one of the highlights for me. A lot of goodness going on here. Aged fruit with smooth whiskey. Sweetness and oak. Vanilla. Just a lot of nice flavors all working together.
