On tap KW fest. Reddish brown, small creamy white head. Slightly sweet and malty aroma. Taste is fine - standard Ontario dark lager / light ale with hint of sweetness and sugar. Nothing off about it, it was fine. barncatmatt (2355) - Cambridge, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 18, 2009
on tap at the KW craft beer and rib fest. pours red with a decent tan head. very sweet aroma of amber malt, brown sugar, and a touch of maple. the flavour is similarily sweet. some maple come in at the end but it to sweet to be drinkable. a 4 oz fest sample was good enough for me. On tap at the KW OCB/ribfest. Taps a dark red with a small, fast dissipating white head. The aroma is faint, cotton candy, mild malts, no maple. Flavour is very much on the sweet side of things, residual sugar the whole way through with some decent malty aspects which are indistinct but inoffensive. Pretty much zero hop activity going on here which is a shame as this thing is just screaming for balance. A very minor hint of maple appears in the finish if you let it warm a tad. Sticky feel to it, and it has that weird Steelback-ness to it that seems to have lingered on from the old Steelback days (the weird sort of garbage feel to it, hard to put into words). Decent, though I can’t see myself every buying this. Seriously needs balance. MrManning (2009) - Hamilton, Ontario, CANADA - JUL 14, 2009
Draught- A deep amber/copper pour with an inch of eggshell froth. Nose is quite malty, some maple, plum, some grains/biscuit and a touch of hops. Tastes malty sweet, of caramel, bready, a bit earthy, fresh hops, some fruit. There’s just a bit of maple towards the end. Creamy, sweet, medium body Good.
