Cloudy brown with a "poor" head. Chortle, chuckle. Kind of bready with a sour finish. Not bad though. awaisanen (1304) - Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, USA - FEB 22, 2006
Nut brown, mahogany coloring with a small off-white head. Smells of fresh rye bread dough with a hint of Brazil nut as well. Flavor is of roasted malts with some of the light nuttiness coming through. Finish is smooth and clean, with a light hoppiness and grilled meat smack. Nice overall, and not overly complicated. Hmm hard to describe. It pours hazy brownish with almost no head. Not very appetizing looking. However it has a nice nose, of molasses and sweet honey, and it tastes like that too. Sweeter without being cloying, a hint of roasted caramel. This is a very comforting beer. harlequinn (2744) - Tacoma, Washington, USA - JAN 16, 2006
This could quite possibly be the perfect session beer. This is a perfectly malty beer, with the wonderful addition of some sweet molasses, and a great malt backbone, just a hint of hops, but this is one of those beer that tastes like something that would come out of the imperial era. I drank two pints, and could have drank more, very well made.
