Bottle at home. Pours red-brown with tan head, which dissipates quite fast. Aroma: bread, caramel, cinnamon, coffee. Taste: high sweetness with little bitterness. Finish has notes of caramel, coffee, brown sugar, raisin. Carbonation is soft, texture is a little creamy and sticky.

Backlog rating. Keg at Kings Arms, London. It pours a clean ruby / copper color with medium beige head. Aroma is sweet and malty, with notes of toffee, dark fruits and light spices. Taste has more toffee, spices, biscuity malts, melon, dried red berries. Medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, decent dubbel

Een robijnrode bock. Moutig en kruidig aroma. Smaak is moutig en zoetig en kruidig. Een vrij zoetige bock, best wel smaakvol voor een belgische bock.

A lovely ruby body with a pale beige head, this Belgian Abbey beer smells quite strongly of barley and brown sugar with an underlying aroma of caramel and berry fruits. It’s taste is surprising, as it is quite sweet and smoky flavoured, with a hint of cinnamon among the fruit. It leaves a cinnamon after taste.

Huge, very dense & fine beige head, leaving shards of lace over clear chestnut-coloured beer. Caramel, toffee, molasses, dark sweet bread, glazing. More of the same in the mouth. Molasses, melanoidins, almonds, marzipan, frangipane. Spritzy, even fizzy. Slightly, even when not overly sticky. Some roast flavour in the aftertaste. Guess what. For the Dutch market, absorbing anything Be?

33cl bottle at home. Dark amber brown with a medium slightly off-white head. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Sweet with herbal bitterness. Caramel, malts, raisin, ripe fruits, herbs and brown sugar. Somewhat too sweet for my taste.

Keg (Earl of Sussex, London)
Nice banana-ey aroma. Sweetish and bready. Perhaps too sweet. Full palate, maybe a litttle sticky. Sweet malty finish.
