Strong, malty aroma has a firm fruity note and a hint of cloves. Pours a dark, somewhat transparent chestnut with a thick and fine-bubbled light tan head. Well-rounded malty, fruity flavor has hints of cloves, caramel and woody hops and just a nip of alcohol. Smooth texture has good, firm body and some fizz, leaving a malty finish that has touches of caramel and cloves. Gotta love them monks.

Bottle at home. Deep red, brown color, looks nice. Beige thin head. Taste okay, but aftertaste a bit thin.

Good brown ale, with added flavors (gruut) which may or may not be your idea of how beer should be brewed, yet renders a nice drinking experience.

From old tasting notes. Deep reddish brown color. Small bubbly tan head. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Tart yeasty malt flavor has a buttery caramel character and a complex treacle-like finish.

sjogro (4348) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - JUL 8, 2017
Bottle at Dekkers. Sisters birthday. See through dark brown with offwhite head. Toasted malts, caramel, nutty, mocha, brown sugar. Moderate sweet and bitter. Under medium body and soft carbonation.

2.2
Acaro (296) - Madrid, SPAIN - JUN 30, 2017
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2017 Aroma: Caramel. Appearance: Dark brown/black color with clear liquid and white head. Taste: Medium sweetness. Palate: Medium body with oily texture and lively carbonation. Short sweet finish with subtle alcoholic notes. Overall: Brabante Oscura: The features are too soft for the aroma. Leaves a very short memory. Too much carbonation for this kind of beer.

6-3-7-3-14 aroma faint, taste of caramel malts, candi sugar, roasted malts, nice bitter aftertaste, not bad but way too plain.

Bottle at Bier Markt. Faintly reddish brown with thin white head. Notes of raisins, caramel, toffee, plums. Tastes of toffee, caramel, raisins, plums. Bit of a harsh aftertaste to this.

ManVsBeer (10786) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 26, 2017
Bottle from Nisa, Hebden Bridge. Brownish-red in colour with a small head. Rich but not overbearing, although not too stated in taste or flavour with a hint of chocolate in its nose amongst some pale malts. Its strength is not really a factor, and it has a fairly smooth texture.

3.4
hednom (187) - Messelbroek, BELGIUM - APR 6, 2017
Bottle 33 cl, pours a Brown colour with a beige head, aroma of caramel and fruits, rather Sweet taste
