12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy copper color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of resin hops with nutty, toasted malts. The taste is bitter resin hops, some citrus and pale malts. Medium bodied. Decent. rondphoto (4383) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - MAR 28, 2012
Pours a cloudy dirty orange with sediment, light head and spotty lace. The taste is semi-sweet caramel malt with a light hop finish. The two sides actually blend rather nicely, creating a good balance in an easy to drink brew. Better than anticipated. Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - MAR 27, 2012
Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a dark orange-amber color with a modest, foamy white head with moderate cling and retention. Its aroma featured a mix of citrus, pine, and earthy hops, and a touch of malt. The beer had a bitter taste with orange and grain characteristics and was a touch sour too. The body was wet with low carbonation and fairly smooth without a dominant mouthfeel. PGHbeer77 (571) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - MAR 18, 2012
Bottle. Not too bad. It’s a little below average in aroma and taste, but the appearance and palate are well off. The aroma is just a little weak for my liking, and the taste was too malty in the finish for me, the hops falling flat. I want hops when I pick up an IPA.

#4 and final in my "$1.00 Stegmaier 12 ounce bottle budget single display beers" from The Party Source. Hazy amber/gold color, large off white head that mostly lasted with fine lacing (not always a sign of a good beer) moderate bittersweet aroma with citrus and reisin notes, standard bittersweet IPA flavor overwhelmed by a rancid bitterness. Unbelievable--by far the worst IPA I’ve had. Stegmaier beers vary so much in quality that either (1) Lion has very inconsistent quality control at their brewery, or (2) some of their beers sit on the shelf way too long. SInce IPA is my favorite style, I would be willing to give this brew a second chance, but only if I can be assured the bottle is fresh. coolfunnj (374) - Margate City, New Jersey, USA - MAR 2, 2012
very citrusy aroma, piney as well only a hint of malt so far so good..appearance light clear orange/yellow,thin cloudy head leaves lacing..tastes like it smells lemony grapefruit with tingly spicy and piney bitterness not a lot of malt background not complex but refreshing...medium bodied, lightly carbonated dry citrus aftertaste overall not a classic but very good in it’s own way and may be the best bargain at about 6-7 bucks a 6 pack thats come around in awhile..i look forward to these being around on a hot day if theyre still available Goodgrief (2020) - Middletown, Delaware, USA - FEB 4, 2012
On tap at Pinocchio’s. Light golden amber color, smallish head. Grainy aroma and a pretty complex hop bullet. Some citrus, lots of resin, some pine. The whole thing was a bit muted, though, in both malt and hops. Not terrible, not great. JFGrind (2042) - Glenside, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 19, 2011
Tailgate beer @ Iggles game. Citrus aroma, medium bitterness, high ABV and maybe a bit too much malts peeking through for an IPA. However, for Lion Brewery and on special for $11 a case this beer was enjoyable and a good value. jgb9348 (6191) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - NOV 12, 2011
Crisp amber and copper coloured body with a thick tan head that fades fast. Aroma of apricots, pears, light hops, copper and a bit of other metallic notes. Light-bodied; Sharp hop notes at first with a relatively minor grapefruit and grassy note with a mellow malt and herbal finish. Aftertaste has a subdued grassy and herbal note with a bit of perfume and almost no distinct hops to speak of - still a bit better than some of the worst, but that isn’t saying much. Overall, not a great beer, but truly not one of the worst IPAs, somewhere in the middle, closer to the bottom. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 09-November-2011 for US$1.29 sampled at home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 12-November-2011.
