I had to try this $20 IPA . I must say that overall it is not bad. Pours amber with a thin off-white head. Not much aroma. The sweetness is too much for an ipa, overpowering the hops which are detectable but not as strong as an ipa should be. Tone down the sweetness and bump up the hops a tad and this would be a good ipa, can’t complain for the price though. There’s worse ipa’s out there.

GABF 2017 with Andrew, PJ, Paul, Brendan and Erica. Pours an orange gold body with white head. Nose is spice and sweet malt. Mouthfeel is a bit metallic, stale hop, spice and lots of malt.

This is a beautiful reasonably-priced IPA that you can drink without hopping out. It is golden and clear, has a great lasting head. It is not overly hopped and has a fine floral hop, as well. There are no off flavors or aroma. This is a very drinkable beer.

Labeled Lionshead at Albion on 2nd ave. was super excited to support the WB. Brings me back to those happy days of Lionshead where they opened both my palate and my mind. This has a wonderful Amber color but not too much aroma coming off of it. I blame the glass. However it was poured with a perfect head so hard off to the ’tender. A sharp bite of hops followed by a slightly malty finish. Would drink this every day if I was still in the burg.

Aroma not good. Can’t put my finger on it. Appearance amber, hazy, frothy, Taste lightly bitter, Palate light body, oily feel, Overall I’m not suggesting this beer to anyone

bottle. Pours copper with off-white head. Caramel malt and hops in the nose, with a malt forward flavor paired with subdued hops and some tropical fruit flavors. OK, not great.

Aroma - oily smelling hops, but not strong Appearance - body is a red amber; liquid is clean and clear; head is about 1 1/2" and white decent head retention. Nice lacing Taste - the hops aren't really aggressive they taste a little stale, the malt body is not very complimentary. Palate - body is medium; texture is approaching oily; carbonation is average; finish is a bit stale strong hops, likely Centennials. Palate - body --- JPS

Bottle, screw-top. Caramel malt and a touch of spaghetti sauce in the nose, dough. Pours hazy amber-orange with a soapy beige head. Taste is sweet with mild bitterness, there’s some mild hoppy fruitiness but not much. Tends rather toward bland and faded etoh-transmission vehicle, unfortunately. Slightly floral, a little grassy/even vegetal, full body with a touch of alcohol showing. It does have a firm backbone, but very little flesh.

12oz bottle. Orange-tan body. Lots of carbonation bubbles rising to meet a big, foamy, soapy, off-white head. A little old school certainly, but still a decent IPA. Chewy malt tones and a mellow piny grapefruit hop flavor. Fruity English yeast tones. Can’t compete with the World Class beers, but is still an enjoyable, well made beer.

Flavor is just right for this IPA. I don’t know why it receives such bad reviews....maybe the formula was changed.

boxofrane (2553) - Spring City, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 19, 2013
Bottle. Pours clear orange with a medium white head. The aroma is citrus and citrus alone.. orange mostly. The taste is fairly malty. There is grapefruit, caramel, a bit of a bitter finish, and maybe some honey. OK.
