UPDATED: FEB 10, 2006 Bottle. Pours clear, pale golden with ample white head that susided slowly into a thin layer. Quite skunky sour smell. Sweetish malty flavour with a rather disagreable touch of maize. Short finish with a pronounced hop bitterness. Not a memorable lager. I beg to disagree with mrchug645 of alb (?) New Mexico: if you really like Pilsner Urquell (and I do) you must NEVER try Stella Artois Lager as it would constitute a cruel and unusual punishment. I did actually have a bottle of Pilsner Urquell after having Stella Artois and the pilsner tasted divine and renewed my faith in beer.

When you first open this and pour it into a glass, it has a rather distinct skunky smell/taste as noted in other comments that slowly goes away. Not so bad.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2006 A very nice beer to have on tap. Goes down so smoothe. Stella Artois have a nice thick head of foam.

Bottle. White and surprisingly lasting head. Yellow clear body with a good deal of carbon dioxide. Malt flavor. Some hops flavor unfortunately rounded by the use of corn.

Clear golden color with a medium white head. The aroma is pretty skunky though. A light to medium fruit hop taste.

I’d have to say that in the land of grocery store lagers, you really can’t go wrong getting this one if you have no other choice and you are staring down a cooler full of Bud, Miller, etc. Light years better than that swill, it still comes up short compartively to other beers. The pour is probably the highlight of the brew, as it looks incredibly inviting. Aroma is somewhat grainy with a tad of hops. The flavor is just your standard lager, nothing falling too short of what you come to expect it would taste like. Like I said, a good choice if faced with gutter swill but I’d pick a hundred other beers if available. Problem is, that unless you are in a specialty store you probably won’t get them.

On tap. Nothing remarkable. Watery. Not a lot of flavor. Hard to believe this is from Belgium.

Good white head, diminishes fast. Rather watery, with a clear bitterness. Wonderfully fresh, especially cold (though that isn’t the best recommendation for any beer)
